I really dig the Li'l Wizard - that was the first balsa plane I built as a teenager - wish I still had it! My brother and I had a couple of  Cox PT-19s that were pretty terrible; so that's where I got my .049 for the Wizard. Right now I'm building a larger "Li'l" Wizard (my own design)....hope you enjoy!

I had one when I came back flying CL about 4-5 yrs ago.
Used it to get used to flying again and to get used to NOT getting dizzy.

Always was and is a nice little plane to have around for fun.

What size is your BIG Wizard?

Loving the old pic of times past!  Seemed life was less complicated then!

Same here Carl! My big one is 46in WS. I'll put an OS .40 LA on it. It's not really like little one though. Built-up wings with flaps and such. Got high hopes for this one! (Could never really stunt the little one! Lol!)

Amazing how much better moder digital photos are than the ones from “the goog ole days”. The Wizard was still, and is still now a nice solid first model.
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

And we've all been hooked ever since. I remember my friend starting his Lil Wizard up and throwing it off his 10th floor balcony on to a field below. Not the smartest thing we did but it sure was fun.😂

I’ve had this one for about 50 years. Started life solid blue with an ok cub. Got lots more use after switching to cox. Repainted around 1977 or 1978. No idea how many flights. After school till dark lots of days with several people taking turns at the handle. Finally retired it about 30 years ago. Nose is to mushy to trust.

Here’s one I have been working on during lockdown. This thread made me realize I had an untouched kit a friend gave me. I took a look at the wing and noticed a slight warp and crack so I left the lit intact and scratched out the parts. Still need to add striping and clear.

Nice Gene!
here is a scan of the original decal sheet.  The background has yellowed.  Is there anyone on here with the skill set and editing program to clean it up?

Brodak was reproducing the wizard decals. They may still have them?

Scan it on your photo copier, then import it into Windows Paint. You can then enlarge the image on your screen and adjust the colors and alot more. No skill needed. Just your time.
