I am in the process of stripping an old 1/2A model of silkspan and want to cover it with something even lighter.
Used to use Airspan which you iron on then clear dope it to fuel proof , can't seem to find it now. What about Sig Aerokote lite or
Coverite lite ? Looking for some recommendations !

Coverite Microlite, slightly over 1/2 oz/square yard! Also, Nelson made a similar stuff, same weight, called "Nelson Litefilm" but I don't know if they still do or not. These are self-adhesive iron-on plastic films. Handle with care as they are easily torn while applying.

I have successfully used UltraCote Lite on my 1/2A's, ie Pathfinder and RM207 and "Little Legends".

You might also consider the "LW Tissue" (almost like PolySpan) from www.bphobbies.com They have several other interesting offerings, as well.

Bill,

Try Coverlite from Coverite. Light weight and fuelproof out of the package, needs no dope. It does not have an adhesive on it so you will need to use SIG Stix-it brushed on the framework before you can iron it down.

Larry Renger has had good luck with this and I used it on my 1/2A version of the Twin Flight Streak.

Stan , went through my stash of covering materials and found a new package of Coverlite . So gonna use that on the wings .

Bill, you have flown my Sky Sport. It is Coverlite covered and has stood up to about 4 years of hard use with minimal damage. I just cornered the market on the stuff, as I was told it will be discontinued! Tower has it in stock, and it seems to "keep", so stock up!

If you don't want iron-ons, plain old Japanese tissue. Stick on with dope, thinned white glue, or a glue stick.

Coverlite is 1/2 the weight of doped Japanese Tissue! And 1000 times as puncture resistant. I own bunches of both, and haven't touched the tissue in years. Tissue MAY give you more warp resistance.
