Title: Kwikee Stunt event at Whittier Narrows
Post by: Larry Renger on April 02, 2012, 10:09:04 AM
We flew the Kwikee Stunt meet at Whittier Narrows yesterday.  Six pilots, 3 aircraft.  The weather was excellent except for some gustyness on, of course, my flight.  The top spot was hotly contested with only a half point difference between 1st and 2nd.

The event is really fun to fly, as you are in a bit of a tizzy remembering what to do next.  With, at most one lap between maneuvers, it keeps you on your toes!  Due to time constraints, we only flew one round.  As a result, the whole contest took less than an hour!  Entry was $1, and the prize a $15 gift card to Subway Sandwiches.

Properly set up, these flat-wing flyers will do a clean set of all the PAMPA maneuvers with the correct size, shape, intersections and bottoms.  You can't tell that the Skyfire doesn't have an airfoil.  No stall, and sharp turns.

Results as follows:

1st  Yours truly flying my Kwikee Skyfire with an AP Wasp .061,  45.5 points  #^
2nd Stan Tyler, same plane,  45 points
3rd Andy Borgogna, same plane, 29.5 points
4th John Wright, Batplane with a Medallion .049, 21.5 points
5th Jed Kusik, Blackhawk Corsair with an AP Wasp .061, 14.75 points
6th Frank Martin, Kwikee Skyfire again, 9 points
