Just finished my first control line project since I was a teenager. I'm sure it will be heavy and fly like a rock but that's OK. This is my trainer for my larger .25 trainer. I'm actually building several to get me ready for Spring. Should be fun. :)

John, looks great! Hope it flies well for you,, what size lines are you going to try? That prop looks like a 6x3, might try a 5x3 if that is too much for the babe.. BTW some rocks fly great!!!

Hmm, good call on the prop size. I will have to rummage around and see what I can find. I suppose I will use the standard 35' nylon lines and see what happens.

That is a very cute (errrrr I mean handsome!) little plane....I love it! It may be just the angle of the photo, but your motor looks like it has 1 or 2 degrees of up thrust. Maybe give that a check and if it does, just put a washer under the top screws. Very nice little ship there. H^^

Ships are usually referred to as "she" so cute is good. ;D

Hello John,
The plane looks great! Just some thoughts regarding
weight.
I know those wheels! (I think) Mine are very heavy.
A set of modern foamies might be better.
The wire lead outs are easy to work with but they're
on the inboard side and need to be balanced with
extra tip weight. I run my Spectra lines right up to
the bellcrank and leave them tied to the plane with
the lines wound around the handle.
It's a cumbersome way to store lines but light and
simple.
I've been using 8# Spectra fishing line and I'm
very happy with it, even in the pouring rain
after several loops.
Since you own a Baby Bee, and if you need
to practice your inverted flying, you might
want to try an indestructable Mann Winn trainer.
The free plans are available at
www.balsabeavers.ca
Look under the "Newcomers/Plans" heading. The idea
is to have the Bee mounted upright when the
plane is inverted. Launch the plane inverted
flying clock wise. Most people seem
to get the knack after seven or eight trys.
I've taught three people inverted flying in
one morning.
Sorry to be a Know-It All. y1
Good luck and
welcome back!
