I was looking at the models that I currently have stored and the Stork stood out as the only ready to fly 1/2A stunter that I had built that I had left. I got to thinking that there had to have been a lot of these sold and built but to the best of my knowledge I have never seen a picture or anyone talking about this model.
I know that it is basically a loose copy of a Nobler and the few times I flew mine I liked it. Power is a Norvel 061, pre revlite, and was flown on 48' of .008 lines. Weight is 11 oz. Wish that I was able to post pictures but never took the time to learn how to do it. sent my last kit to Brodaks a few years ago as he bought the line and I was hoping that they would re-introduce the 3 1/2A's that GSM had in their lineup. The Spitfire and MW109 were basically the same layout and construction but offered some variety.
So who else has one and built and flew them and what were your experiences with them. Mine is 7 years old and I really wasn't the best at the pattern then, or now, but there is no reason that it shouldn't be capable.
For some background I basically removed as much wood as possible on mine hollowed the leading edge between the ribs, the ribs are shells, thread hinges, dyed tissue covering(orange and black) with custom graphics from 21st Century Graphics.
It is closer to the right size for a modern 1/2A engine, has flaps, and as I remember did decent corners.

Just remembered that Frank Carlisle had posted a picture of the model in one of his threads at the District 7 site. some 1/2A rings there also.

can't believe it. I must have built the only one.

Hi Dennis,
Long time . . .
I have at least one Stork NOB and it's sister ship, the ME-109, which I believe is a bit scarcer - also NIB. Just keep running out of "tuits". I think I need to manufacture a new batch of Rpund Tuits!!!

Well, I have the Spitfire, so I guess we got 'em covered. 8)

Edit: I built one from the kit...Dieselized TD .049 painted solid maroon. Copied one, Big Mig .049 (pre-Revlite) painted solid metalic green. Thought about using the plans outline to build a full fuselage version...probably change the wingtip construction too. I've always liked the outline of the Spitfire (as do most?). Someday...

I have a Spitfire about 75% done (as it has been for years!), but I have yet to see any of the three fly.
I do remember chatter about these on the forums when they were fairly new. Good flying 1/2A designs from all accounts.

I have flown at least 3 Storks, and seen one or two more. For some reason, no matter how botched the build, the model flies great. It has to be the most forgiving design I have seen. I just wish I knew why..... b1
One had fixed flaps and flew a clean pattern. Another was heavy as can be, warped and crooked, but still flew a clean pattern. My compliments to the Chef!
John Wright had one he got from somewhere, flew it to tatters, sold/gave? it to Al Shorey, who slagged on some new Moneykote, and is flying the bejabbers out of it long after it should have been given a decent burial with full honors. Al isn't a world class flyer, but he gets a full pattern out of the model with a stock (I know it is stock, I sold it to him) Medallion .049.
I think that the design needs a comeback, as it is simple to build, forgiving and flies great.

Any plans on these anywhere? Magazines? Thanks.

Write or call John Brodak as he owns the rights to GSM kits and I'm sure that he has plans or a master that he can make copies. Better yet ask him to consider re-introducing the 3 models back into the modelling mainstream.
Thanks,
Dennis
