Flite Line 1/2A Sport Combat kits Plans
« on: June 21, 2025, 12:04:25 PM »

Riley Wooten's company, Flite line, put out three little sport sheet balsa combat kits back when we were you. They were the Lil Bat, Lil Bomb, and Lil Bee. These were just simple plate all sheet balsa flying wings. What are the chances of someone having the plans and patterns for these? I just want them for old times sake, and I know my little brother and I got at least two of them mail order from AHC because they were pretty cheap!! I'm thinking of using the new coreplast corrugated plastic for some of the, but want to make them as true to the original outlines as possible.
  Type at you later,

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find where I got my L'il Bomb plans years ago.  I built one using a Testor's 'You Fly 'Em' engine and called it my L'il Pipe Bomb.

I don't know if I still have the plane, but if I do I'll take measurements and post them here.

edit:  Here's a thread from this forum from 2012 where Riley replied with the dimensions:  https://stunthanger.com/smf/12-a-building/fliteline-'lil-bomb'12a-cl-26799/

edit 2:  Here's another from another forum with a picture of the dimensions:  https://www.coxengineforum.com/t3411-1-2a-c-l-beginner-build-combat-wing

That's pretty cool and creative!! I keep wanting to post my want add on C.E.F. but keep getting side tracked!!  If I can get decent dimensions for one, they may work for the other two. I need to dig out some 60's model mags and look for the illustrations in the AHC ads for reference, or maybe an old SIG catalog.

Dan, the first thread I posted has a small picture of the ads.  Maybe that'll help.

Just as an aside, in my build I did what I usually do.  On the wing tips, I put a small strip of balsa with the grain going fore and aft to keep the slab wing from curling or twisting.  It may not be of a lot of use on such a short span wing, but I always do this with slab wings, just in case.

edit:  After looking at my L'il Pipe Bomb thread, I guess the tips are overkill, as the two bottom strakes would probably fulfill the same function.
