I was recently given an Enya .06 in fairly decent condition. I disassembled, cleaned and lubed it up. I noticed the rod looks like it is stamped brass or bronze. It also appears to have a cut off for free flight. Anyone have any experience with Enya 1/2A's? Anything special I need to know about the operation of it?

As far as I know, the 0.06 was never exported, so they are pretty rare animal, I think they were a really low cost engine, strictly for use in Japan. If I am wrong then I would love to hear the story behind the 0.06.

Andrew,
The Enya 049/06/08/10 never being exported is apparently not true as I bought a few of the 06 from AHC in a closeout sale at $2.95 plus postage apiece.
I bought the others when I was in Japan and I believe that a lot of them made it to other countries via that route. They weren't power houses but they were nice runners a all Enyas are. The 06 diesel is particularly good and you have to remember also that some were made in rear valve and front intake also plus diesel variants.

Gents, thanks for the info. I had a chance today to bench run it with some 15% nitro with added castor (around 22% oil total). It started on the second flip, and like Dennis said, no power house but a nice runner. I don't think it has enough oomph for CL, probably good for a light sport RC or FF job.

Hello Dennis,
Thanks for correcting me. I never knew that they made a diesel variety. Now that I would not mind having, as I am a bit of a diesel fanatic for the Enya diesels. Rear induction too as a change. Now that is as interesting as the diesels! One thing about this hobby is that you always live and learn. Thanks for the information.
Best Wishes,
Andrew.

The engine is the first version Enya .06 . It is a reed valve engine. The one you have is an R/C version. The .06 II is a front rotary valve engine. The engines were designed for the Japanese market to address a price point. The crank runs in the Aluminum crankcase. It does not have a bronze bushing.
