Special Project
« on: September 25, 2012, 05:15:52 PM »
I somehow just missed out on the bidding for this.  I really needed it for my super duper special sekret project.

I certainly wouldn't be participating in the bidding war. I believe from what I heard it was due to the yellow tank back. I have no knowledge on these engines so I can't comment on it's availability. ken

This engine was an upgrade of the Space Bug Junior. The backplate fill and vent nipples are removed and a metal "stunt" tank replaced the plastic one. It now had the stunt capability of the Space Bug with a much cheaper tank setup.

I don't have one either...and certainly could not afford that price! :-(

With a winning bid of over $1K the seller could have sprung for the shipping cost.

I'm sure the seller had no idea that he would experience a case of bidding frenzy.  But, just goes to show that for collectors money is no object.

Actually, I try not to be a collector.  As I have 2 each Space Bug, Thermal Hopper, Space Hopper and RR1, I think I have the old stuff pretty well covered. The first three were gifts when one of the old timers at Cox was cleaning out his desk.  I did buy the RR1s, as they were my favorite engine as a kid.

No way I'd spend $1k on any engine smaller than a 3.5 liter V-6. (guess who just got a new car)  ;D
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!
