Title: Cox T D .09
Post by: Bootlegger on September 01, 2021, 04:29:07 PM

I would like to set this engine up for "draw" not pressure, what would be a good venturi size.

The question is a bit odd as no venturi's are available for this engine. The stock venturi works just fine on suction. If your looking to choke it down, that might be slightly tricky. Paul Smith had a great tutorial on how he does it on TD .049's using JB weld. You can't block the peripheral holes internally. Paul would use small pieces of wire and fill the venturi with JB weld. The TD .09 while it may be used on crank  pressure, it's needle valve is quite coarse and really wasn't designed for bladder pressure. As long as you have no air leaks on the POS plastic carb body and needle valve, it works fine on suction.

Thanks for the reply, apparantly some one set it up with a venturi as it has one, I'm gonna leave it alone and see if I can get it to rune on some 10-22 fuel on a 7x4 prop, again thanks     y1   H^^

The TD .09 will run on 10%, it will do much better on higher nitro. The go to prop for the TD was the gray Cox 7 x 3.5. While the 7x4 props are not out of the question, keep in mind that if your using a APC, it has a fair amount of blade area. I assume your trying to use this for stunt? Even a Cox 6x4 gray is a good choice. One thing to keep in mind though is that your dealing with a unpopular engine and it has little to no parts support. The current .049 plugs are reaching high dollars and the TD .09 and Medallion would even be more. You should consider purchasing a turbo head adapter for these engines. Greg from Kamtechnik provides terrific hard to source adapters.
