Title: Cox Medallion .09, what prop?
Post by: wwwarbird on January 22, 2017, 06:00:47 PM

Just question here for some of you experienced 1/2A'ers...

It's a little bigger than a 1/2A, but what prop would be recommended for sport/stunt flying on a Cox Medallion .09? I had one many years ago that ran and pulled great, but I don't recall what prop I used on it. I only recall it being a white nylon Top Flite something.  D>K

If you can locate a Cox black 7x3.5. Anything in that range is good. A newer Master Airscrew G series 7x4 might also work well.

The original Cox instruction sheet that came with the motor lists props from 6x4 (16K RPM) to 8x4 (10.6K).  7x3 and 7x3.5 are right in the middle of the listed props at around 15K RPM.

The best prop for the Cox 09 medallion and particularly the T.D 09 was the Cox competition 7/3 grey prop. That said after reading this thread I went into the prop collection and found 1 dozen of those props. probably no interest in them anymore but they were really good props and resemble the Thunder Tiger grey line of props. Only they predated the TT props by about 50 years.

Thanks for that info Mark, as a reference I was also curious as to what the original paperwork said.

 Dennis, sent you a PM.
