I know 1/2A's and grass don't mix and most use a take-off board to get airborne. I was wondering it anyone has tried trike gear on these small ships and does it help them land and better?

I have the Midwest P-63 1/2A with trike gear. I feel it doesn't help. They certainly do well on asphalt. I currently have the 1/2A Sterling P-38 with trike gear and I find it concerning when the engine quit. It's more like a controlled crash when it starts cartwheeling when it trips over the nose wheel.
