Here are photos of the wing construction on Minnesota Modeler's Geo.  Naturally I had to tweak things by adding adjustable leadouts and a panel for tipweight.

The leadouts run through eyelets that may be moved from hole to hole with the wire sliding through the slot.  Once the model is trimmed, you glue the eyelets in.  The tip is a three-piece laminate with the thick inner piece only 1/4" deep forming a hollow tip.

For tipweight, that panel is drilled and tapped for a bolt, and you adjust the weight by varying the size and length of bolt.  Or you can glue a "T"nut on the inside and bolt washers to the outside.  Both work fine.

I have never had to glue in the eyelets in....... they are too hard to take out on their own, most of the time! LOL!!

Actually, Ray's kit fits so well, I can't concieve how anyone but a total doofus could do less well in the assembly.  I know I could not custom cut the fits as well as he does, and the engineering is amazing.

Of course. you can't make things idiot proof, there are too many of them and they can be remarkably imaginative.  I do my share, now and then .....

If I hadn't known it I would have easily believed his 1/2A Snapper kit was laser cut!  His wood working skills are top drawer.  His balsa selection is perfect, as are all the fits!  The lead out are already installed on the BC with both ends finished, the pushrod is prebent, LG has wheels mounted, the only thing I DON"T remember being in the kit (and ready to use) was covering, glue, paint and engine!  About the most "non ARF" kit I have ever seen!

We have some excellent kit makers now, I hope they can all stay in business!

Yes the leadouts were installed, I made some major mods to do my adjustable leadouts.  I expect that the model would fly just fine as designed and kitted, but I am a small plane, perfectionist nut.  (Do you think anyone has noticed?) I want it MY WAY, just like Burger King offers.

You?  "a small plane, perfectionist nut"??  NO WAY!!!!!!!

There is actually more wood in that wing than a standard layout...what with the flaps and extra hardware it does tend to be a little heavier than the 5-oz. Snapper for instance! But the flaps do help carry the weight, and it may even be some advantage in a breeze.

Cratermaker yes!  But I never owned a Firecat!  Never owned an engine bigger than .049 until I got a Fox .35 in college.  I High School, my favorite plane was a rough copy of the Scarinzi Streak (Hmm wonder why the Sky Streak is forward swept?) Also the Lil Omega and the 1/2A Snapper.  Flew a lot of free-flights too.  Just as badly as I did control-lione.   

I have, for unfortunate reasons, missed the last two building sessions with Warren.  The first one I was helping out with one of my best friends who is having serious cardiac problems.  This week, I was rebuilding my Tech Terror to get it ready for VSC.  I splattered it a week ago due to binding line clips.  It is rebuilt, covered, and has a coupe of coats of dope on it.  I WILL fly it at VSC even if it disintegrates due to fuel soaking after the contest.   

Not trying to sound stupid here, but what are the pin like things you use to plank the center section.
