Title: Baby Ringmaster
Post by: ray copeland on June 22, 2007, 07:13:57 PM
Recently purchased a Baby Ringmaster on e-b*y for 12 bucks , needs recovering and some glue,  been hanging in a barn a long time. Is this a classic stunter i should take some time with and try to restore or just patch and try to fly?  What engine would best suit it, black widow , cub a or norvel or maybe .09?  Just looking for some advice from the experts. Thanks, Ray

Hi Ray,

As to repairs, do whatever suits you. y1  Just try to not add any weight!

I would use the Black Widow, but the others would fly it.  The .09 would be a bit much, though!

Ray:

I have not flown my Baby Ringmaster for a few years, but when it was in operation in flew very well on 42' .008 cables with a Black Widow.  When I first flew it I tried it on 35' lines, but, even though I had increased the wing span by about 4" with modified wing tips, the lap times were far too fast to be enjoyable.  It was capable of doing a whole lot more than I could.  I'm sure that you will enjoy the little beastie.

If the lap times are too fast a sure cure would be to put a prop of the same diameter with less pitch. This would slow things down some yet not sacrifice the motor's power.
Should that prove not quite slow enough, stick a prop with one size larger diameter and one less pitch number and you, should be good to go!

Or just put the prop on backwards... it works!

Yes, it does!  I did it in the past many times.
