WACO CABIN MODEL
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:28:46 PM »
Available it Black Hawk Models Authorized Dealers in about two weeks the Walt Musciano WACO CABIN MODEL. Designed in 1953 and now available again. This biplane should be a show stopper at the Musciano contest this year. The Cox production would be a perfect match for the model.

Hi Larry. I have one that I got at a swap, already painted and ready to go. It is intended to take a .020, but a Black Widow would make this thing a monster. Never flew it. It had crud on it from sitting for decades, but it cleaned up well. The builder trimmed it just like the box art.

Smallest span of all the Hollow Logs...

Someone sent us a Waco, a long time ago, but it was not a priority so it just sat around. Now with more Musciano events I took another look at it and th plans that you had sent to us. If someone hollowed it out some more this would be real fast, a racer.
Currell, I am looking for a set of plans for the Cessna "210" Glider and or the powered version that appeared in a Mag. article.
Thanks
Larry

I like that a lot!
Curell mentions it having the Smallest span of all the Hollow Logs, What is the span? I'm curious!

Scientific never said what the span is, only that it had a 32 sq in area (on a bipe). The upper wing is 13" - 22 sq in area, lower wing 9" - 10 sq in, I do not have the plan here with me but I think that is right. The plan is at the draftsman's place drawing up the Black Hawk Models plans and decals. The wing is thicker than our other bipes so it can be airfoiled. The Fuselage is a little heaver than later models but you can lighten it up.

I just went over to the shop to measure. It is 11.75" top, 8.75" bottom.

Small.

Here are the changes that we made in the kit:
We extended the wings to 12" and 9".
We moved the landing gear forward slightly to make room for a fuel tank.
Because our bellcrank is a little we moved the bellcrank forward 3/16" on the wing a slightly toward the wing tip to clear the cowling.

Let Joe know that you want one and he can put it on his next order. Tell him that it is FS 3600 and sells for $30.00. It will be in the next newsletter in June. The kit also includes a FREE control handle and lines.
