Title: 1/2 a engine diminsions
Post by: jim gilmore on March 27, 2008, 05:23:05 PM
I'm doing some drawing but do not have an engine with me. Can somebody give me the dims for the crankcase width the width of the mounts and the overall length prop to back of case. A norvell or wasp would be fine.
thanks in advance.

Jim,
Old and new Norvels vary in dimensions.
How do I know?
I have three in front of me.

A "new" Norvel .061 (black cylinder fins) measures as follows:

Crankcase width =.71"
width of mounts (lugs) = 1.215"
length - rear of prop to rear of rear cover plate = 1.8"

Roger's figures are right...I set my motor mounts 11/16" apart (.6875) then carve them out a little for a snug fit around the lower crankcase. Others like to set them at 3/4" and give themselves a little wiggle room for incidence adjustment.
