Title: 1/2 A cub?

In 1970 I built my first Balsa control line plane. All these years I remembered it as a "Scientific" brand super cub or just cub. I have a picture of it some where. I saw it had a built up wing and fuse. The post I read for that brand of kits never mention a Cub. Am I wrong about the brand?

I doubt you are wrong. Scientific made a wide variety of planes in different styles. They offered 3 different P-40s at one time for instance. one was a profile with a built up wing, one was a "hollow log" fuselage with a solid shaped balsa wing and then there was a bulit up wing with a built up fuse. All 1/2A. All by Scientific.

I presently have a Cessna 172 profile plane that apparantly was modified sometime later and the built up wing was dropped in favor of the solid shaped wing. maybe someone else with more info can chime in.

What was the wingspan? I do know of a super cub that Scientific offered that had about a 28 inch wingspan built up wing... Surely there were smaller ones as well.

Here is what I can find thus far:
All of these are Cubs That Scientific offered. Boxes changed over the years but the ad images pretty much stayed the same.

Robert, thank you so much, the actual plane kit was #113 that I had. I will watch for one to buy, if I can afford it. It's good to have places to go for info.

Check with Walt, I am pretty sure he designed that kit and has plans.  Would be a simple plans build and pretty chaeap too!

Terry, I hope this helps you. It is my understanding that Mr. Musciano welcomes and appreciates those who are interested in his designs! This was posted in another thread, I hope it is ok here. From my understanding he does not have a website but certainly welcomes snail mail!

47.  PIPER CUB (AMBLNC/RESCUE )
48.  PIPER CUB CRUISER
49.  PIPER CUB SEAPLANE/SCOUT
50.  PIPER CUB SPECIAL
51.  PIPER CUB TRAINER

Not sure if this is a complete list of Cubs made by Scientific or only the "hollow log" ones.

I built one of the "hollow log" Super Cubs. 

No plans, just copied a kit somebody let me trace.

No stunts, but great speed.
