Title: 020 Engines & Planes
Post by: RK on October 08, 2018, 09:44:46 PM
I just received my first 020 engine (from E Bay) and I am looking for plans & kits to build for it. I haven't had much luck at Outerzone looking for plans, any ideas?

Thanks, RK flyer   #^

Check these, you could buy a kit or Pat also sells the full size PDF for maybe $5. Definitely worth it, in my opinion. His designs are meant to build quick!

The trouble with 020 engines without a separate tank you get about 45 seconds of flight time. I used to tap the tank and hook up a separate tank to get a little more flight time. even so small engines are  not my favorite means of enjoying the hobby.

I built several of these in my youth.  Great fun.

I can't help you with plans, but it makes a difference if it's a reed valve or a TD.

What he said.  If it's a PeeWee .020, something like the Queen Bee would be great.  I know there are several more designs on Outerzone for a .020, but I'd have to go home and look in my .010/.020 folder on my hard drive.

If it's a TD .020 in good shape, it'll fly any of the smaller 1/2A planes designed for a Cox reedie or Babe Bee.  Note that I said smaller, not the designs that would be marginal on the lower powered .049s.  Those little TD's are stout engines.

I like the reply. 'I believe I'll build one of these also.....'. Heck after seeing you build, you probably have a couple knocked out already! ;D But what I will like seeing most however, is your finishing, as you definately have a great talent there as well.

It doesn't feel like it lately. I don't feel like I have time to breathe. I was literally building a plane the week of whatever contest I was going to. Then give it to my wife and kids. They'd crash and I'd have to start the process over. So my finishes have really suffered  from lack of time! The ringmaster I flew this last weekend was built in 2 days. It wasn't pretty but it flew ok.
