Aeromodeller Engine mount article by Stuart Sherlock.
« on: June 23, 2015, 09:00:31 PM »
Anyone read the recent engine mount article by Stuart yet?

Makes fascinating reading and leads me to believe that all beam mount model engines may be better off (from a vibration point of view) with the bearers above the lugs rather than below them Team Race style.

Thanks, Chris.

On most engines, the tops of the beam mount casting is not machined level, or straight.  This is necessary to prevent undue stress on the casting.

Hi Floyd,
if it was accepted that the bearers were better off at a higher location then I am sure that it would not be too difficult for manufacturers to machine the other side.
