Pretty good flight there Dane.

the motor does sound a bit lean tho.

counting the laps, you have got to get in the pylon FAST to get to correct amount of timed laps.

if the plane wants to climb right after the motor quits all the time, bring the tale of the jet tube down a little bit
at a time until it stops doing that. Remember, the engine always wants to fly itself level on an upright model.

I flew Jet speed for a very long time when WAM was going strong in the N. CA area back in the 70's.
Took me about 6 months to get my Hoyt Tamigo to fly level both during and after the engine run.
and when it was level, it gained a good 7 mph (according to my old notes)......
I still have all my old trimming notes for the and the sidewinder models.

Thanks Carl!
It was a little lean. We tried the next size and it flooded out. But Joey mathison was the man in the video getting it started. I'm thinking that was just all we were gonna get today.

Also, I really just need more flight time. When Joey flys the same plane, there's a huge difference.

At a contest in whittier, I flew and hit 120 with my Bolton t34. It was it's first contest, so I thought I did good.  Joey walked out and flew my plane without any changes to anything,  and hit just over 133....

Dane I will bring the starting gear again tomorrow for another few test hops. Carl the speed rules are not what they used to be back when you were flying jet. Much like Perkins and Hempel I am a second generation jet jock and I remember the days of running the mix your own hot sauce fuel. the fuel is now supplied by NASS at each contest here in the USA 80% ALKY  20% NITRO, We used to have to do 3 laps in the pylon now only 2. We used to use .031" line now .033" I know this because I was the pilot on both the D speed and Jet speed flights that required the change. Today jets groove like a dream compared to old school jets and I have had my far share of flying the crappy ones. Dane will get better he has to because he is going to be my pilot soon. #^ #^ #^

Joe;

Yeah, I know about the changes in the lines andfuels and such that are used these days.

I was flying my Tamigo on the same mix as they are using these days. BUT my sidewinder had the  hot shnit in it
with the .82" back plate, opened up intake and petal backing and it went like stink, I did manage to hit 199 a few times,
but that was on a perfect day with a hangover if memory serves. LOL

My Tamigo was consistant at 153 solid. nothing faster with it, but what a joy to fly.

I know Dane will get better, he just has to practice more like you said and stay ahead of the plane.

I am sure he can get into the solid 130's with no problem at all.

I still have both jets and all the fixings sealed away so they can not rot or anything likethat.

Might set the Tamigo up here if a few weeks and let the guys at the CL field see what it looks like.
Just have to teach a couple how to start it is all. and NOT runaway in horror when it burps. ROFLOL

Oh! Then I guess I better get busy! Lol.
Lots of practice indeed. Unfortunately, I found out about CL flying a little late in life. So, I gotta get spinning!

Carl, looks like today is your bday?  Happy bday sir !

Getting there! We got two flights in today. Decent amount of wind on that first flight. The second flight, everyone said looks like I kept it very level. And I'll say, it felt much faster. Big difference.

Looks like this one is great for training, but I'll stick with the T34 and hk jet in the next contest. Much easier than building a new tank.

Joey's the man, and thank you for the equipment!
