Perky Postal for 2016.
« on: June 04, 2016, 06:01:15 PM »
I will continue for 2016, same as 2015.

Thus far I have gleaned results from Saint Louis, Detroit, and Dayton.
See attached Excel spreadsheet.

Eight scores thus far.
I am using only the single best per person.
You can upgrade if you do better.

I have rung out this posting.  It opens OK.  Just click the box that comes up in your lower left corner.

I have received an e mail with several new scores.  There are now 18 people on the scoreboard with 7 over 100 MPH.

The pictures are from England via Patrick Hempel.

You will have to pardon my ignorance with CL speed history.  When was the Perky first developed and what would have been a good speed at that time?  I am curious to see how much we have progressed with engines.  Were any of our 18 entries done with representative engines/equipment of the day?

As it has been told to me, the Perky was designed by Matt Kaina of the Ringmaster around 1948.  The plans show an ignition engine and omit the bellcrank.  This was common practice to avoid law suits from Jim Walker.

I don't know what the old time scores were.

The current winners used the most modern engines  available.

Mine would have been, but I have moved the model on. Typical result with it was 60mph, engine O.K. 0.149. 10% nitro fuel.

[I can remember the schedule o.k., the problem is remembering what was the last manoeuvre I just flew!].
