Good job on the video, Fred. That looks like fun. Thanks for telling us about the planes and how to do it.  I notice a lot of the engines are unhappy during the initial rollout, but all settle down and run after they get airborne. Would bladders help that. If I understood correctly, the clock starts when it starts rolling, and a lot of time can be lost or gained during that burp phase.

both John and Dan had a coffin tank with the pickup at the front of the tank, we think the fuel is being pushed aft during takeoff starving the fuel for a 1/2 lap. The tank I use is a normal pickup at the back of the tank without any problems. There is a whole science to the tank design for speed that I don't understand having to do with keeping the engine from going too lean or rich during the flight.

having said that Bill also probably had a coffin tank with no problems....beyond my experience

Dan is still working with his tank

lol yes, a bladder would help tremendously however they are not allowed. Suction tanks only.

If watch a speed model take off, they don't excellerate like the Quickie race type planes.  Time them for 2 laps from start and you will probably see the reason they sag on take off with front pickup.

Who was that guy that predicted pan rats and tuned pipes? Should be interesting to see how fast it goes or blows up.
