LA-25 Sport Race at the SOCC in Dresden
« on: August 08, 2016, 08:06:50 PM »
Day One of the SOCC went very will with John Paris winning OTS, Lenny Bourel Balloon Bust and Ed Brzys winning Speed Limit (120K) Combat.  All events were well attended and closely contested.

LA-25 was especially good and close with all teams completing all of the 5-mile qualifiers with a time span of only 49 seconds.  But wait, the time span of each team's best time was less than 6 seconds in five miles.  It was an ever-changing finals lineup the ultimate score being:

Doug Blackmore & Leonard Bourel    4:30.37 - Brodak Hot Shot (same as the Brodak 100-miler)  67.7 MPH
Lenny & Doug                                 4:33.06 - Brodak Hot Shot
Paul Smith & Keith Morgan               4:33.53 - Scientific Giant Kingpin
Chris Brownhill & Brad LaPointe         4:36.04 - Goldberg Buster

So Doug & Lenny had the enviable decision of forfeiting second place and keeping the team together or hiring two pilots.  They decided to go for the sweep and brought in Chris Brownhill & Al Feil.

Paul Smith and Keith Morgan  8:59.81   67.8 MPH
Lenny Bourel and Al Feil         9:27.41
Doug Blackmore                    9:35.17

These LA-25's seem to have a limited number of good hot starts in one day.  Mine gave me four good pit stops but not so good on the 5th.  Maybe the others went fast too early and didn't anything left for the final.

Comparing the 10-miler to the 100-miler, 9 minutes for the ten would equate to 90 minutes for the hundred.  But the 100-mile requires only 20 pit stops compared to 3 per 10 miles which would pro rate to 30 in 100 miles.

I didn't have the camera handy at the contest so I had to settle for an unloading shot.
