What we are currently using is Powermaster RO-Jett 10% nitro, 5% castor oil, 17% synthetic oil. We have also used PowerMaster GMA 10% 11/11 oil, Ritch's 10% 10/10 oil and 10% 5/15 oil. All work well, but the ASP's don't really need a lot of castor.

What do you do if some poor schmuck shows up with a Fox?  And now that HobbyPartz is out of stock of the $43 ASP, where's the next best place to get a compliant engine?  Either Tower or Hobby People at $70?

People are still running Foxes. I've run mine on all the different fuels and it doesn't complain. If somebody wanted to run 11/11 fuel rather than 5/15 or 5/17, I'd let them, assuming we had some for them to use.

The ASP's will be back in stock. I've seen them run out and re-stock more than once. If you're in a hurry, you could buy a Magnum from Hobby People or Tower. Even at $70 it's a decent deal.

No hurry.  I guess I'll try to wait HobbyPartz out.  I hope you're right, but I'm skeptical.  My Fox is marginal on restarts already.
Thanks for the reply.  Your new Margaret June looks great!

will a fox keep up with the ASP

In what little experience I have, a good Fox (i.e., one that runs well and restarts hot) will keep up quite well with the ASP/Magnum engines. The venturi size and other constraints levied on the ASP/Magnum models makes them essentially equal. (That was done on purpose.)

That being said, it is a lot easier to make the ASP/Magnum run and restart hot, and VERY difficult to get  a Fox to do the same.

The idea is that if the ASP/Magnum engines prove to be too fast for the Fox to be competitive,, just like TQR, the venturi size can be adjusted.

Hi all
I am getting ready for my first "La Jollita" Indy Race next week.

http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php/topic,37494.0.html

Thinking about race fuel mix for my HP.15 Bluehead like 10%Castor oil, 10%Synth.Oil, 70%Meth. + 10%Nitro.
For my understanding:
Engines are running hotter on temps. with Synth. oil .
How would this affect hot restarts in this HP .15 Bluehead case ?.
The engine is run in well on 20% Castor oil + 5% Nitro mix.
Thanx for any hints.

The 10/10/10 mix should work fine. That much castor is not necessary, and you could also run 5% castor/15% synthetic if you prefer. we have used both.
