QUICKIE RAT II
« on: December 31, 2016, 10:16:52 AM »
Here is a laser cut kit of Riley Wooten’s Quickie Rat II. The airplane has a 30” wingspan and 133 square inches of wing area. This airplane has not been kitted previously. Riley says that this is a better airplane than the original Quickie Rat. It is more stable on take-off.  The design has been revised to have a basswood leading edge. There is now a 1" strip of basswood for the leading edge. The kit does not contain a bellcrank, but contains all the wood and music wire. Brodak P222 is the right bellcrank for this kit. The plans are full size CAD plans with all parts shown full size. The kits sell for $63.00 plus Priority mail postage from 60449.

Thanks,  Pat

The wing is .275" thick Balsa. The wing comes planned to .275 and the tips chamfered. The Quickie Rat wing is Balsa. The design could be changed to have a 1" basswood leading edge. The wing is not shaped. If I can get an order for 1000 kits I can afford the tooling to shape the wings.

I'll take your word for that. I have never seen a Fox Bellcrank.

Brodak P222 is the 2" perfect bellcrank. I would recommend the 2" Fox bellcrank if your engine is at a power level higher than say a (factory stock) Fox 35.

Where are you getting your Fox bell cranks? ???

My understanding is Fox door shut now for 2 years and they do NOT have ANY remaining old stock of parts or products

SO I have same question every time someone advises a Fox item or to Call Sharron in Fort Smith to see...

I am sure there are still a bunch of NOS Fox stuff out there...I just don't know who has any of it

But I do know where the lion's share of Cox items are... but much of that is dwindling fast

I am loving this kit, my question is... why the little bellcrank?  Could a three inch work since it's outside? I thought a racer would benefit from slower control

This one shows a 2" bellcrank because that is what the original used. A 3" could be used, the output arm would probably need to be cut down. These things do not need a lot of control throw, unless the circle just needs to be plowed!  LL~ LL~
