AD6 Skyraider Profile Scale
« on: February 09, 2016, 02:40:24 PM »
The Douglas Skyraider is my favorite airplane. I grew up on an island with a Naval Air Station on the island. As a kid I watched groups of Skyraiders orbiting the island. The airplane is for .09 to .15 glow engines. This kit is laser cut with CAD plans with full size templates of all parts. The kit includes bellcrank, control horn, pushrod wire, and landing gear wires. The kit incorporates 1/16 ply braces in the wing to help set and hold the dihedral.  The airplane is profile scale with a sheet wing. The airplane is 3/4” = 1’-0” scale (1/16 scale), the wingspan is 35 ½” with 247 square inches of wing area. This airplane is for fun or Profile Scale. This airplane was re-designated as the A1-H in 1962. The first kits will sell for $68.00 plus postage.

Wouldn't happen to have been Whidbey Island Wa. ?? I've been lookin at the 45 sized AD6 as I was in VA-145 which had the Skyraiders before I joined them. We had the A6A Intruders when I was there 71-72

I was raised in Alameda, CA. At that time Alameda was home port for 1/2 of the Pacific fleet. NAS Alameda was the Navy's largest air repair depot. My father wrote the T.Os for converting AD Skyraiders into A1 Skyraiders.
