It's modeled after Wayne Handley's Turbo Raven custom built air show aerobatic airplane. WAY crazy power to weight ratio. It could take off in a few feet, pull a big loop, reverse pitch on the prop and land and stop at the same place he took off from. I got to see him fly it at the Reno races in 1999. A few weeks or manths after that, he had a prop control failure on the down hill side of a similar maneuver and pancaked the airplane. The compression injury he suffered from the impact and resulting surgeries left him several inches shorter than he was previously. His act was completely indescribable and had to be seen to be believed. This model is a very nice representation of the full scale airplane.

Young Daniel, aka Dan Banjock. I have watched this plane morph from a picture on the cover of a magazine he had and then a sketch and completion. There's just a lot of work that went into the plane. Ken

That would be the famous Dan Banjock. However, young is stretching it a bit. Young Dan is old enough now to be called long on tooth. However that doesn't stop Dan from being young at heart. he does know how to have fun and enjoy the hobby.

Beautiful bird.  Seeing how it is Danny I was hoping it had the twin lung Fox on it...!

Oh that Dan. I'm assuming those turbine exhausts are real aluminum then. ;D

Hopefully we'll see some more photos...

PA75. Header no pipe. All dope. Rubbed out with Gorans (sp?) then waxed. Dan conceived the idea. Then drew up the plans. Neat details all over the place. Some funny. A more conventional wing than his previous competition design, the Vista. The Vista had a fatter airfoil of near constant cord, only 1 degree of sweep back. The Raven wing, I believe, tapers airfoil towards the tip. Also more lead edge sweep. The Vista had issues, surprisingly, in very calm conditions. It went in, at least once, yanked out of the air by its residual wake. Dan thought the constant chord thick wing of Vista created a lot of turbulence. New wing is more conventional.

It is indeed a very nice airplane.

Bob Whitely also did one several years ago.  I have some photos of it but can't get my photo size reduction program to work tonight.  I'll try to send some photos of it tomorrow.

It had one of the special Double Star, double plug, 75's in it.

After viewing Danny's beautiful Raven yesterday I came away with one question.....If that's not a 20 point airplane ,what is? Best wishes to Danny on creating such as beautiful example of what I call "Stunter Art". Let's hope that it flies as well as it looks.....PhillySkip

Oh-oh!  If that flies as good as it looks Young Daniel will be cutting a wide swath through the Expert ranks.  No more showing up with a profile Bearcat with the Fox double 35 and giving the rest of us a chance.  We're all toast now, except maybe Palko...

Dang that thing is good-looking!!
