The starting procedure is what amzed me.   Also it was spectacular to see in the air.  Kept waiting for the rudder to drag the pavement on outside turns.   H^^

" One would really have to see it fly in
person to believe that it could be done.
I think anyone would be hard pressed
to top that achievement
. "

Forget about trying to Top that acheivement - I dont think anyone can TOP that.
I am not even bold enough to say I equaled it, but I gave it a real Good shot - Flew it at a Nats, won a comp, and flew to a 3rd at the State Championships.

Even I still take my hat to Paul for that B17. Its not until you do it that you realize the scale of trying to get a 4engined semi scale bomber to fly a competitive stunt level is immense.

After doing the Lancaster and campaining it for a 1/2 year  - There are 3 things that Paul did with the B17 that stand out to me are above and beyond the model itself with all its spectacular's and are 3 things that I NEVER did ,couldnt do or would be to overwhelmed to attempt to acheive.

1: Starting 4 engines by Hand within 1 Minute.  ( I used an electric starter to get it done in time )
2: Flying it a World Champsionships  ( Best I did was a Nats )
3: Building it takeapart.  y1 ( The man is indeed a Brilliant Engineer )

I have to enter this picture taken by Jim Vornholt during the First Flight on my new CL Sport Scale 1914 Jeannin Stahltaube.  The model  is 88 In. WS, weighs 9 1/4 Lbs and is powered by an OS FS91 SII-P engine.

90 of the 92 Scale Cables are on the model at this time.  I am using some cheap wheels for the test flight, didn't want to risk the $35 Williams Bros, Scale wheels.

Not a model I'm afraid....

I took this at RIAT 2008, It had disappeared behind some trees and I could here it coming back so I stood there camera poised, it got louder and louder and then "There it was", almost low enough to touch. I tried to follow it, hit the button and promptly fell on my A$$, I expected to find I had a shot of the tail or similar but all in all it came out pretty good.  #^

The blur is visible if you look for it. The landing gear can be seen pretty well in the collage picture.

... is there more pictures of that Bear? For some reason I've had difficulties finding good Bear photos.

I looked at the collage - I can see Wheels.. wheels.. wheels... wheels.. then NO wheels.. in 2 frames - Loops and level flight.

Looks amazing ! - Maybe the next evolution in UHP gear? Im dissapointed to read no retracts, it looked great!

This is my fav photo from the trip last October to Clovis and Death Valley, me flying the SV-11. It was taken by my brother Hugh, at "Little Lake" on Hwy. 395 in E. California. The "wide open spaces" don't look nearly as wide open as they really were!  8) Steve

Driving to and from Tuscon town I see these dry lake beds when I take the one route west of Vaughn, New Mexico.  I also wonder what it would be like to have a grass field that flat and big.  But, then I think,  yeah then we would put up the canopies to shield the sun an hear comes the turbulance.   H^^

Not control line, but one of my best... This is my Free Flight Fullarton Sportster (1950's Australian design) with R/C assist. Electric powered, I had to put a dummy diesel engine in made out of balsa to make it look authentic.

Hi Warren, Happy belated Australia Day! That's a beautiful model. Is that powered by a dumb balsa Mills?  Have you ever flown this design as a free flight model? Cheer, Mike

Fine looking Twister Juan...I wish I was there to help you launch and enjoy the great weather; coconut trees, papayas, mangoes and...well you get the picture.

Not a great picture but one of my favorites. Taken by a newspaper photographer at a Tifton Ga contest about 25 years ago. It appeared on the front page of the Tifton Newspaper on Monday morning.  My son inlaws parents saw it and mailed it to me. My red hair had not gone white yet ~^ AASr with wheel pants. f~
