What are the differences between these two kits, and where can a fellow get kit's or plans for each?
What are some opinons as to which is the better to build and which flies better. T I A
Hi Boot, The first version Tomahawk is a much better flying model than the second version.
The original Tomahawk's wing area is a bit over 30 sq"s larger, and it's designed for a
.19 cu" - .35 cu" engine range. The second version is smaller and lighter than the original;
and it was designed for a .19 cu" Veco engine. It is advertised as having only 330 sq"s of
wing area compared to the original's 365 sq"s. I have both versions, I built the Dumas ver
decades before I built CLC's original kit. The Dumas model has been used as a test bed
primary trainer using a variety of .15 cu" diesels. The CLC original Tomahak model is powered
by a CS Oliver Tiger mkIII repro. It easily flys the stunt pattern on 60' X .015" lines and
remains tight on overhead maneuvers even in light/medium wind. The CLC kit is the very best
rendition of the original Veco Tomahawk, The CLC kit was made by Tony Drago and the full size
plans were drawn by Dave Braun. If you can find the CLC kit buy it !
