Super Tiger .60 part
« on: August 28, 2016, 10:29:34 AM »
I am rebuilding a Tiger .60 & I need another part.   I need a Rear Drive Washer  or in other circles a Thrust Washer for it.  Maybe someone has a parts tiger or 2.
  Thanks ,  John

"Prop Driver" to me. I would check to see if one from a G.51 might fit?  ??? Steve

In 1986, Henk and I did the 'grand tour', flying both the Salzburg (Austria) and St. Etienne (France) contest, leaving us one week in between.
Spend that time going into N-Italy and visiting the Pianoro (n. Bologna) ST factory.
We managed to get sufficient parts supply to keep our ST .60 and G21/46 engines running.
Meanwhile we've used up most of it, 't was a good investment.
But since 10 years I've moved up to electric. #^ ;D
I only fly IC for nostalgic reasons every now and then.

   Frank ,
I cant say what year the engine is but it does have muffler lugs on the crankcase.
The diameter of the Drive washer is .979"  the length is .474"   .

Have you called Randy Smith to see if he has one?

Making one would not be impossible for somebody with a metal lathe...which I believe JL does. FWIW, I wouldn't bother with knurling the prop face, since most spinner backplates are already knurled. I'd just scour it up good with 60 grit and bond it to the (supposed) spinner backplate with JB Weld. Boring the tapered hole isn't all that difficult. Measuring the conical collet accurately is a bit more challenging. Maybe somebody out there knows what the angle of dangle is on ST's collets? We know somebody with a CMM...  ??? Steve
