It would be the only site I have a problem with, and it seems I am not alone.

I've tried Firefox/Lubuntu, Firefox/Windows, IE/Windows and IE/Windows on another computer - always goes to the WWII address.

Has anyone who CAN get on SSW left them a message about the issue? If so, what was their response?

Only good thing is that there hasn't been anything new over there for quite a while. D>K

Weird.

This is not a problem with your computer. It seems to be that the domain became unregistered for a few hours on Thursday or Friday, and that your ISP's domain name server still has the unregistered message site, not the actual site. It will clear itself up in a few days, I think.

There are new posts there as of today and another one in a few minutes.

I'll go post a thread about this issue. Is it possible to see if all you that are having a problems are in the same region or part of the country? Just curious about that possibility.

I'm in South Florida, I am using Chrome. As of Sunday March 12 8:34 pm I am still unable to access Leonard' site. I am still getting the following:

http://ww2.clstunt.com/?folio=9PO5S5HDG

This domain will not resolve while the name servers it uses have expired. The name server's domain is ns1.secureplusplusthree.net

I've got no joy here in south-central Kansas while buddy Jim Kraft 90 miles north in Abilene says he has no problem.  I think it's an ISP thing.  I am on ATT.net and use both Chrome and Firefox, to no avail.

Yo, Tony...bent nose yes, tinfoil hat, no. I was actually jabbing at Sparky a little, because he always says "It's on your end".

Actually, I went to SSW in several different ways, from the link somebody posted, also shortened the url to .com/, and also by Googling for "Stuka Stunt Works". These can lead to some wandering through the site, looking for the link to the forum. Never failed to find the forum, tho.

I expect Brett has it figured out. FWIW, ComCast is my ISP. If your ISP is also ComCast and you can't get on SSW....hmmmm.  D>K Steve

It is a DNS expired lease issue, and the DNS chain of servers hasn't picked up the new refresh yet.

Simple, fix. Bypass your local ISP DNS servers and switch to Google public DNS server.

In your TCPIP settings, you can manually config DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

As per this page. https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Stuka stunt will come right up, and you won't be reliant on your ISP's DNS server anymore.

Disclaimer, legal speak and such: Do at your own risk, if you mess with other settings by mistake, you can dissconnect yourself from the internet, but its simple enough to put back if you jot down the original settings before you touch anything.

Glad I could help.

The probable reason your Iphone stopped working at home is because your Iphone is likely set to use your home wifi instead of cellular when in proximity to save your cell data plan bytes. So, your home wifi router is also probably set to use your isp dns like your pc was. You can change that too if you know how...  but I really don't like suggesting people start tinkering in their routers unless they are already comfortable doing so. Chances are good that if you turn off wifi in your iphone when home, it will find Stuka Stunt, or, if you know ios, you can set dns there too.

EricV's Reply #82 contained the answer to my difficulty in connecting to Stuka Stunt.  I had lost the ability to connect for as long as this thread has been active.  Based on Eric's comments, I changed my computer's internet settings for the default DNS addresses from "automatic" to the "8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4" values.  After rebooting my computer, Stuka Stunt was again accessible.  By the way, I am running Firefox on a Windows XP Pro system.  Thanks Eric.

Why don 't you guys get the owner / operator of Stuka Stunt to shut it down and join Stunt Hangar?  The time people spend going back and forth between the sites could be spent working on a plane, etc.  All the information you need is here.

There is a pretty extensive archive of old posts from the likes of GMA, and other notables that have passed on still over there... and a lot of still very useful tech content as well, even including how to fix your H*nda, and some great Monty Python quotes. It would be a shame to lose all that. Plus, it is another avenue for retreads to stumble into when doing a web browser search query. I've never thought less was more in a situation like this. I will go further to say that yes, it has been a might slow over there, and if Len ever did decide to shut it down, I hope someone like Sparky can host the old posts in some sort of a locked but searchable archive database for posterity.

Eric, that is exactly what I think.  Stuka Stunt could give Sparky the archives and instead there being rivalry, they work together.   I don't see it as a failure of Stuka Stunt.  Control line is declining.  We are dying off.  Youth are not becoming control line pilots like in the old days. There just does not seem to be enough people to support both sites.

I am not sure why you think there is a rivalry, there are two different forums, but it's not a contest.

There are knowledgeable, experienced flyer/builders who, for whatever their reasons, post only on SSW.
They have been very helpful in the past and I value both forums very much.

Well, I just tried again with no luck. I do not feel comfortable playing with settings so, I will just have to abandon the site for a while. I will check if I can get back in to the site in a couple of weeks. I tried resetting my router, modem, restarted my computer, all with no luck.

I can't access it either, but I haven't changed my settings yet. Neither my PC on Time Warner/Spectrum nor my phone with Verizon (with wifi turned off). I've been typing clstunt.com.

Well it is back as I have it up now on another page.  As I don't post on there much I wasn't too worried about losing the site.  Yes there are some over there that don't like the SH site for some reason.

Seems to me that SSW is finished. They let something expire and are doing nothing to fix it. If I knew what to fix, I would do it. But I don't. Bye SSW.

Garf, you did not read all the posts apparantly, there are a good number of people that are able to get on, so the site is still there,, thats kinda like saying your neighbor moved, and then your kids see them walking across the lawn,, lol??

Changing to either of those public DNS server settings posted by Eric did nothing for me.
I still get kicked to the WW2 page.

Why is it that I need to make changes to be able to view a site that I have been viewing for years and others can see. makes no sense to me.

I just Googled for "Stuka Stunt Forum" and went where Google said. Worked fine. Made a post in the thread about making the profile Tucker Special.

I recall having a problem with some ISP's or email systems not allowing an email from one of the email providers I've used...can't recall which...single email to a single address...apparently their opinion was that anybody using that brand of email was a spammer, so I got rejected. What I recall was that I was trying to contact somebody on RCGroups to buy an engine, and he had to contact his ISP or email system and ask them to fix it, which they did, at their end. I don't know if this is the solution in the case of SSW Forum.  :-\ Steve
