Steel 4-40 inserts

 Looking for some 4-40 steel inserts, not 4-40 "T" nuts, Du Bro makes these In brass, but I need  them in steel, who can help??
 The engine keeps coming loose in the brass inserts, and I need to clean them so that I can put some lock tite on them in hopes they will stay, so any suggestions will be appreciated...

Gil, these are steel and will work in wood. They make miniature sizes too.

Also do a search for Keenserts. I've heard good things about them from our resident engineers.

The Keenserts that I've seen don't have threads that are deep enough that I'd trust them in wood.  At least, not until some fool uh, courageous experimenter went and tried them out in his expensive plane and found them reliable.

I might be that guy, if it's a plane I'm not terribly attached to and if I epoxied the Keenserts into the motor mounts.

So Ed!  Give it a try and report back!

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

What's coming loose? The insert or the bolt. I put the brass insets in with JB Weld and use socket head bolts with lock washers. No problems so far.
