The Gluedobbers have an air conditioned clubhouse, a porta potty for the guys, and a flush toilet for the gals. We also have a fixture on the outside wall of the clubhouse to make up flying lines, a metal shelter outside the clubhouse with picnic tables, an engine test stand, and 3 well manicured grass circles. We are proud of our flying site at Reeves Field.

On Sunday, September 25, we will have the mother of all raffles. We hope to have the contest and raffle done by 2 pm, so that the contestants can get started home pretty early.

Y'all come!

I am looking forward to the food.  No reason to leave hungry at this contest.  I hope the rain holds off or at least there are some breaks in the storms that are forecast.

All weather is composed of three parts: Yes, No, and Maybe.

The greatest of these is Maybe.

I went out to Reeves field today to tie up a few loose ends. Club members Lee Thiel, Bob Reeves, and Joe Gilbert were already there. They where entertaining some early contest arrivals from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They were John and Maggie Blanchard, and Brent Rogillo and his Father, Ray. (Who is also an old controline flyer)

John and Brent were flying up a storm and had brought a bunch of stunters with them.

I just talked to Tim Tipton. (one of our club members) Tim said that Tom Morris and John Simpson were about 2 hours east of Tulsa. We are glad to have them both.

Hey Matt...I heard a rumor that you had to fly blind-folded with your handle upside-down, why? We all saw you fly at Dallas.  ;D

I went out to Reeves field at noon to deliver a shelter. Don Massie, Brent Rogillo, Don Cranford, John Simpson, and Tom Morris were flying. Joe Bowman and Nan Beavers were also there. John Simpson was flying a Charles Mackey twin boom design called the  Crusader.  Charles had 3 twin boom designs; the Carousel, the Junkers Gobbleswantz, ( Open Nats stunt winner) and the Crusader.

I left around 2 pm. I'll be back out around 7 am tomorrow.

It looks like rain on Sunday, so we will have the Mother of ALL Raffles on Saturday.

We have an interesting raffle donation given to us by our Ponca City member Randy Dailey. Years ago, the Continental Oil Company tore down an old building at the Ponca City refinery. All the walls were insulated with Balsa blocks. They took out the balsa and gave it to anyone who wanted it.
Randy donated a box of balsa that is 4 feet wide 5 feet long, and 1 foot high. Some blocks are 1 foot long, others are 4 feet long. There is a whole lotta balsa there!

Thanks Randy!

Saturday (September 24) Was good. It was a little hot and humid, and the wind built up throughout the day. The turnout was good and we had no rain to contend with.

Tomorrow, the weathermen promise rain. We will see how this works out.

We had the mother of all raffles on Saturday, because the weathermen predicted 100% chance of rain on Sunday, with possible flooding. We have people write their initials on the back of the ticket.
It makes the raffle run much faster.

More later.

Thanks, so much, for all of the pictures. That Crusader is super cool.  Every year I say I'm going to make it to this one. Hopefully next year I won't have to say "maybe next year". Hope to see some of my friends and make a few new ones in El Dorado in a few weeks.

Looks like I had to miss a great contest.

Way to go 'Dobbers on producing yet another excellent Sooner State Championships contest!

As usual, Elwyn's pics are so good. (Dave: Chin up, son. I wish I could take pics as good as you can!)

LOVE the Helldiver model!  When a lad I thought the Helldiver was the cat's meow. Built a plastic model of it and also owned a Cox Helldiver.

So sorry I missed this one.

Upside: I'll see all you 'Dobbers at the Combat Legends Reunion!

It didn't rain today! We ran all the flights with no problems. The sky was overcast, temp. was in the low 70's and the wind was out of the north at 3 mph.

As Will Rogers said: "The only people who forecast weather in Oklahoma are newcomers or fools!"

Wow... temps in the low 70's?  Already up to 88 degrees and getting hotter than a pistol today over here in the Hell Hole of OK.  Amazing what a few miles will do!

From the temps/radar, looks like that so-called "cool" front that was to hit our area slipped off to the west. Figures.

Another Tulsa contest come and gone.   The old Suburban let me down this time,  breaks and coolant.   Thanks for the great pictures from both Elwyn and Dave.   Yesterday I thought of you all as I was in the back yard with the dogs.   One second almost getting blowed out of the chair and next dead calm.   Mostly windy.  Today was taco salad feed after church and rain with hardly any wind.  At times I wish I had my old blue Chevy truck back.   Only let me down for one contest in the years I had it.  Hopefully next year if I don't make the combat get together.

The Tulsa Glue Dobbers are a class act with one of the finest facilities for control line flying around. They do a great job of putting on a contest. Miss Pat and others did a great job with getting everyone signed up and lined out. Thanks to the MMG for putting up with us and for the food. Joe and Colleen were great Hosts Friday night for dinner. The Glue Dobbers have the best photographer ever thanks for the fine photos Elwyn. If anyone on here has never been to one of their contests you are missing out.

We had not been in Catoosa for the past few years or so. My wife and I were so glad to of been able to come this year. There is a great bunch of folks out there and they run a great contest. The flying site (IMHO) is one of the best maintained sites I've flown off of. Great people, great food and some real good flyers. Well done "Gluedobbers!"

Had a great time and we really dodged the rain bullet, didn't start raining till way after everything was over on Sunday. All the comments we heard about the facility made the Gluedobbers proud to have been able to build such a great flying site. Thanks' to everyone that attended and all those that help make it go so well.

It was a great contest this past weekend! The food was great, flying was spectacular and the weather held out long enough to get a full contest in, and enough time to fool around and swap planes for a couple flights with those who were still there. Watching everybody fight the wind and turbulence in the second round of profile was worth the price of admission on Saturday. That was a lot of fun! Thanks to Joe Gilbert for letting me fly his ringmaster in profile. That airplane should not fly as well as it does. It's a little Ferrari and can probably turn a 5ft radius. Thanks also go to John Simpson for letting me fly his Charles Mackey Crusader in classic. It's a strange looking airplane from inside the circle, but flies great!

Here's some pictures.

Thanks Mike! I actually flew my Staris this weekend. Joe and I spent a lot of time trimming it over the past couple weeks and it's gotten to be very close to the capabilities of the SV-11.
