I thought I had this posted on the racing forum, but, it has diappeared somewhere. Everytime I try to pull it back up it says it is posted already. So I thought I would try it here to see if it shows up. A fellow competitor does not have time to build and asked me to build one for him. It is covered with white Fabri-cote. Fuselage is finished with Poly-U, dope/talc and epoxy. Graphics is monokote. Overall is two part clear auto paint. Will be powered with Fox 35 for the Shoestring races. DOC Holliday

The Goldberg Shoestring Stunter is my favorite small plane of all time. I keep hearing that the Brodak version is better. Hard to believe.

This was the last Godberg kit, unless there is another one I didn't see. Seems I am finding kits I forgot I had. Can't wait to get into new shop I am supposed to be getting. DOC Holliday

Thats sweet! man it takes me back. My first "real" plane was a Goldberg Shoestring profile. Had a Mcoy .35 Redhead on it. Oh what memories,,,, One of these days I will just have to build another,, I carried that plane around all over the country,, even after it wasnt flyable,, silkspan and dope, ,with talc filler, my dad showed me how to do that. well ok so it wasnt all that pretty but to me it was gorgeous,, it was black with yellow and red stripes,, I painted the name on it too, by hand,, scarey to think,, "the Black Zap" yeha ok I was 14,, lol,, thanks for bringing this back to me,,,, gonna have to get me one of those soon,, sigh,,

I got one of tghe new Brodak kits. Looking at it is "Looks" identical to the original! The only difference being the LE structure which still has that "carved LE" appearance. It is also pretty good wood and should build a *little* lighter than the originals I had.

My first *big* plane was a Shoestring with a brand new McCoy 19 Red Head. My buddy had one and did the "clipped wing" version shown on the plans. His was powered by an OS MAX 35III. And of course he ran it wide open! LOL!! Dude, thatr thing was fast

THATS HOW WE FLEW IT TOO, lean her out to the max then back off a quarter turn as I recall. used a yellow plastic 10x6, or the white nylon 10x 6,, fast baby, let er rip. man, it was fun, the next fun plane I had, i flew the heck out of was a Mongoose slow combat with a ST 35 on it. now that was some serious fun,,, lol almost indestructable,,

Really nice Doc, I guess we all had one back then. They were great planes I still remember the orange silk wings on mine. Hope to see it at VSC next year.

Andrew, you won't see this one at VSC. It is built for one thing and that is to go as fast as a Fox 35 Stunt will take it. Built according to the Wichita, Kansas Shoestring Racing rules as I could get it. DOC Holliday

Been out with John Bender a couple of times. Have also tried to fly in two contests that were windy. Think they will let me move back to Int. See you there in Topeka. DOC Holliday

Hi Doc, very nice Shoestring. My first plane was also a CG Shoestring that I built in 1960. I mail ordered the kit along with a McCoy Red Head .35 from an ad in Flying Models (I think). For the amusement of those not yet here at that time the total cost of the kit and engine was 12.95! Anyway your Shoestring brings back many fond memories. I've been eyeing the Brodak kit for awhile, now if I can just finish these two projects I've been working on............

Hi Mark,

My friend's Dad taught me to fly. One time I launched the "clipped wing Shoestring" with that OS MAX 35III screaming! He took the restrictor out of the venturi, and put some Missle Mist in it.

When I launched, I grabbed the battery, and ducked because he was already coming back over my head (at about 4 feet) INVERTED! LOL!! He flew fast, faster and fastest! Never pranged one either! Those were (as Shultzie would say) the daze days!

It was my buddy's plane, but he wouldn't fly it like that, he put the restrictor back in and got out the Testor's 39!!

I have a Shoestring kit that I bought at the Amarillo Hobby House in Amarillo, TX. The price marked on the kit is $2.95. That should tell you just how old it really is. I have used the kit to clone several sShoestrings in the past. I think I have at least three other CG Shoestring kits, and the last one cost $44.95 direct from the mfr. and doesn't have any covering nor hardware.
guess I might have to clone another one soon.

Doc is a dang good competitor. I really like flying in a race against him (even though we DID get a little TOO close once in KC).
Doc. I gave that plane away at the Brodak fly-in year before last--- that is why I have to build a new one.

Hey Doc and BigIron....
We are going out tonight to do the initial prep on the field... Most of the cracks have been filled and sealed on the paved circle... Park people mowed yesterday and we will do more mowing tonight... Plus hopefully Saturday to get the stunt circle in good shape
That is a really nice looking Shoestring, Doc!! Looks tooo good to race
