Well Dick I suspect you might be kidding me here........I mean I've been posting pictures of it since I started it almost two years ago. Surely no ones missed it. And possibly guys are getting tired of it. But hey........for 30 years I've wanted to build a twin and get to fly it. So I'm kind of excited about it. And I got to tell you --- now that I'm at the picture taking stage I'm having a heck of a lot more fun than when I was dragging myself into the basement building it. And the painting was ever so much more tedious than the building.
I've got some tangerine Nitro-Scent to add to the fuel. That should be cool with both those .40s belching out smoke.

I sure hope it flies well........there is always that.

We used to say in Okla., guys who drove monster pickups were compensating.  I wonder if it's as true for monster-size airplanes????

(Just kidding, Frank...)

If I had built that plane (like I could!), I'd have about 87 pictures of it.  And I'd send duplicate copies of all of 'em to Dick Fowler.

Of course I'm co,pensating Ray. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked--"Is it in?" n1

I think Dick was pulling my leg, right?

They won't Bill................kids just aren't interested enough in this stuff...........now if the topics were about celebrities and hollywood and video games they might see it. And even if they did our banter would pale ib comparison to the content of the latest video games. y1 yup.

Frank, I was indeed giving you a tug! That's a neat airplane and it's obvious that you've spent considerable time and money (cost of a bigger truck!). It's been informative how you have chronicled the building for us. Thanks

I do have just have one question... Who makes that ARF?  VD~
Title: Re: SIZE MATTERS
Post by: frank carlisle on May 19, 2007, 05:17:28 PM
Dick, the Arf is made in China and the production of this particular model is entirely in the hands of their most talented worker, Sum Yung Guy. LL~

We had our first contest of the year in Flint today and a bunch of us went to the Hong Kong Buffet for dinner afterward. Your post about not keeping my plane a secret came up in conversation and we all agreed that you'd been giving me a "tug". The reason we came to that conclusion is because no one could have missed all those posts over the last year or so. It was concluded that I did indeed make too much fuss and noise for anyone to miss it.

Hey, I am glad you kept us up to date on the production of such a beautiful aircraft.  Would love to see it in person.  Has it been flown yet?  Also what vehicle did you buy to carry it in?.  DOC Holliday

Speaking of size, I'm currently working on a new design for stunt and was wondering if there is a maximum wing span? I've looked at the rule book and haven't seen any restriction.

Only max I know of is:  center of plane to center of handle is 70 feet.  DOC Holliday

The maximum span of the wing should be somewhat less than the maximum width of whatever you plan on transporting it in............ y1

Hi Archie H^^ are we having a resurgance of Adamisin interest in stunt??

Hi Frank,
You never know what you might see. Denny and I, as well as my eldest son, Archie are in the process of organizing all our old plans and we are seriously considering copying them all in CAD. We might even have some  kits laser cut. That will really depend on if we can find a good source for the cutting.
While I was taking a break between drawings, I sketched a new design that has a removable two-piece wing. Each panel is 40".

It will be nice seeing you guys at the circle. It's been a long time.
If you're talking about the planes at your dad's house, you have plenty of work.
The Typhoon is one I'd like to ee again.

I wish you'd do plans for Dennis's Futurist.   :##

Hi Arch, I don't know what the AMA's rules are but the FAI rules for F2B dictate a maximum wingspan of 2.0 metres.

The Lancaster that PJ Roland built was over the legal span (fai rules) and  a protest was lodged by another competitor at (I think it was) the Aussie Nats.

I believe he has since trimmed it down to a little under 2 metres to save future headaches.

P.S Ditto what Randy said in regards to the Futurist!

 Cheers, Rob.

Let's see 4.25 pounds ( planes that big don't get to use ounces) at 4G (pulled that one right out of the air) equals seventeen pounds of pull for seven minutes to get through the pattern.   Hummmm, where is the picture of the back brace, arm brace, and most important the poll you plant in the ground to hang on too.  Man you could dislocate your shoulder flying that thing.  But lordy it is one fine looking bird!  You have got to get that one on a video and share it with the rest of us.
Andy

Updated for noted Math errors, good thing I'm a computer engineer and not a structural engineer. y1

Great math Andrew.............17 lbs. is about what I figured also. Trimmed properly it shouldn't be too big a job to fly it.
