Rick, thanks for bringing this to our attention.  It will be interesting to see the winning bid.  Just saw not more than a week ago 12 sheets of SGM silkspan go for $92 plus shipping!  Thankfully I was able to "relocate" my personal stash a couple days ago (about 10 sheets of 00).  It will be used strictly on sheeted/solid surfaces, polyspan goes on the open bays.  After it's gone I'll switch to the the cheap stuff (carbon veil or silk!).

This looks like the really light weight stuff, which is 00 or "double ought", doesn't it? I don't think they made a 000 weight. Just as a review, I think the K&S stuff, (going from light to heavy) went 00,0, SGM and GM, didn't it? Sterling rubber powered models had the lightest weight silkspan in them instead of tissue paper. It didn't come in very large sheets. I have been off work for the last couple of weeks, and have been going through my stuff and I have all my tissue/silkspan stashed in one place now, and I'm fixed up pretty good so I can't se paying a buck a sheet for the light stuff. There has to be more out there, just hasn't been found yet.
   Type at you later,

That stuff looks pretty good for paper from the 60's. Anybody know the seller?

I use silkspan from Easy Built Models.  Their catalog says it is 1.3 grams/sq.ft.  Does this weight compare to the mid weight grade of the past?  It comes in 10 foot long rolls, 17.5 inches wide, priced at $9 a roll.

I have used it with no issues.  I use it to cover bare wood, not on open bays.

Im lucky when the scramble started for silkspan I started hording. I have about 6 full boxes 1-00 2-gm 3-sgm. The last 3 boxes did cost $50.00 ea but there is nothing I like better. I did use polyspan on my last wing I believe it is much stronger but it was harder for me to use.
