Silkspan for $34.50 a sheet?
« on: March 14, 2017, 02:00:33 PM »
I was watching some K&S silkspan for sale on eBay.  10 sheets of GM sold for $345.00!  That's $34.50 a sheet!

I don't understand it.

The seller is a first rate eBayer.  I have purchased from him more than once with great results.

I have seen him get top dollar for stuff; this must set a record.

The buyer must have really needed it.  My only guess is that he is single, or will be soon.

I was watching that too. Stunned was what I was when it ended. Gatafish must be laughing all the way to the bank.

I probably have upwards of 40 sheets.  I'll take $250 for 10 sheets.

I have 6 1/2 boxes of GM and SGM I would sell for $34.50 per sheet and I would even pay shipping.  y1

I use nothing but silk, 5 yards for 15.00 is what I believe I pay.

I've gotten really quick at applying it now that I put it on dry.

You could use yesterday's newspaper if you wanted to. It doesn't make any difference for airplanes that don't fly.  And the method you use to apply the silk is fraught with danger also. If you haven't discovered it yet, you will.

LOL lets see, the thread is about SILKSPAN, you posted about silk,, and then you brag about your VERY unconventional attachment method which for you onlookers I would NEVER try, its so wrong , yeah Charles it works for you, but like Dan said, doesnt really matter much if you dont fly them how much it weighs or how it holds up, most of us on here want our airplanes to perform properly so that means using proven methods and means,,
so if you dont want responses like Dan's, then dont troll threads with info that does not apply to the thread,, thanks

Give up Dan and Mark we will never end this.  By the way don't tell Dave but I found a box of 00 silk span that is his if I can find it again.   The Titi is working even though it takes different procedure.   The way I do it eliminates many, many, many coats of dope.

Boy, that TIDI stuff is looking better and better!
I got 12 rolls of 12"x 125' of medical tissue that works just great for open structure wings at the level of my skill. My cost for all this was under $35.

There will always be the foolish ones, Rich.
Silkspan is now available in 6 21"x125'-roll cases for ~$25 (GM) or ~$50 (SGM) per case.

Some of these people don't know about the forums or just have money to waste.  I still say I should get a commission on any thing I bid on as the item usually goes out of sight.  Of course I'm thinking of trying again to lighten the burden that will be on the family when I decide to retire from humanity.  The last few items didn't get enough to for the shipping and a couple never came close to the reserve.  I did one year have a gentleman in France pay more than I expected for a kit and the high cost of shipping as USPS wouldn't do it.
