Screen material for fuel filters?
« on: April 27, 2016, 09:46:26 PM »
I'm looking for a source to replace the screens used in our in line fuel filters like the Jett and Dubro filters. TIA

You could try contacting the manufacturer or look on McMaster Carr for stainless screen but a filter is just a few bucks. Can't see it being cost effective unless the manufacturer gives you a freebie. What diameter do you need? I have several screens left over from go kart carb rebuild kits. I don't use the screen because it's too fine for racing. Diameter is about 8mm.

It's only paranoia if they aren't really after you.

How fine do you need?

Don't be too clever on that one. I have access to scrap bits of screen down to fractions of a micron. I tried using it and it clogged before I could get the engine choked. You only want it to be small enough to remove particles that will jam in the needle, any finer and it will clog too quickly and unnecessarily.

100 mesh is about right for the screen size.
