While sitting on front porch relaxing after mowing the front yard I heard a sound I hadn't heard for years. I started to get out of my chair when here it appeared. The real B-25 heading to the SW and in a slight bank. I was elated to see it and wished someone else had been with me to see it. I watched it disappear over the trees going almost due west. What a sight and sound. Gear was already tuck up and those radials were a sound to behold. Now if I could get my profile to sound like that, Of course didn't have camera with me.

One of the coolest sounding aircraft ever produced, even while just taxiing. Do you know which one it was Doc?

Nowadays, it was probacly an ARF foamie with a sound module flown by some .......e with a virtual vision module.

If it was the real thing, you are to be envied the experience. I hope it was for real.

I live near the Dallas flying field, which isn't too far from the Cavanaugh flight museum in Addison, and the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field. A few weekends ago, I was out in the yard in the morning and got to see a B-17 flying over. A little later it came back going the other way. Later in the afternoon, it was a B-24. Other times, it may be a B-25. This happens several times a year. Any more, I ALMOST take it for granted!

Doc, it may have been "Devil Dog" 0n the way to Dayton this weekend.

But Dayton is east of me. Yes it was the ral thing and I not up to par on such things as to which version. All I know was I was over joyed at seeing it.

Your right Doc; the sound of 1700 hp (X2) burning 140 gallons an hour is wonderful. Sure beats the smell of agent orange in the morning.

I was at the "Gathering of the Warbirds" in Madera in 1986!!!!
I got a ride in Bill Destefani's P-40. My dad had arranged it without my knowledge and it was an absolute surprise!!

Man what a ride!!!!!!!!

"In The Mood" N9117Z, serial 44-29199, is still flying today in Colorado Springs at the National Museum of WWII Aviation.

It happens just about every day here at Chino Airport in So Cal...B-25 takeoffs, landings, overhead approaches and low passes. This, along with P-51s, P-40s, F-8Fs, P-38s, and others. Hard to get anything done in the hangar what with having to go out & watch all this.

The flap is being generated by organizations at Chino that are not really impacted by the airshow which occurs only one weekend per year. Yanks Air Museum is one of the outfits complaining & the POF airshow could only generate much favorable P/R for Yanks since Yanks doesn't fly any of their airplanes. I suspect there is an element of jealousy in there somewhere. Anyway, POF has been at Chino since 1972 which is longer than any of the other groups having heartburn about the airshow.

Oh yeah, for the past few days a genuine (as opposed to a "made for movie from a T-6 Zero") Japanese Zero has been making evening flights including low passes. What with all of the other warbirds it is just hard to get work done in my hangar.

Consider your self lucky. I tried years and years ago to get on with a company that took care of civilian aircraft at what used to be the Fairfax Airport of Kansas City.
