New Build, Brodak Shark 402
« on: May 10, 2016, 05:02:42 PM »
Just finished this Brodak Shark 402. Can't say enough about the kit, one of the best I have built. It comes with excellent wood, adjustable leadouts, and tip weight box. RTF weight is 27 oz, with a brand new Enya .25 SS EX abc from shttrman. Mods I did were using a suspended phenolic bellcrank, 2 wheel LG, and Doc Holiday style leadout ends. Hope to fly it soon!

Um, Shark 402 or Shark .15?

This is a Shark 402 I did in the Shark 15 livery. I also recently did a Shark 15, you can see it here- http://stunthanger.com/smf/open-forum/shark-15/msg424998/#msg424998

I built mine about 3 years ago. Other than the misguided LG, ditto all your remarks. Mine refitted with old Glen Lee goodyear LG and big wheels. LA .25. 28oz. Excellent flier in all weather. Not nearly as attractive as yours!!  TS

Bill-
Looks nice, but what are "Doc Holliday Style" leadouts?
I looked at the pic, couldn't see the terminations. Maybe it is at the bellcrank end?

Thanks, Chris

I just got to tell you guys that this has quickly became my "go-to" airplane for everyday flying. What a great performer, the motor doesn't miss a beat either. Flew it about 15 time last Saturday, we had a blast! Can't go wrong with this plane or motor.

plans and a premium hand selected kit is available from Pat as well,,

The 402 is the wing area I believe. It is a Pat Johnston design as the Shark .15 was no longer being manufactured. Plans are available from PAMPA if you don't want a kit from Brodak. H^^

He asked because I have this one done up like a Shark 15, to include a version of the decal. Either way, it is a fun flying plane.

Pat also has plans and short kits for the Shark 560, and Shark 610. Both excellent planes. I cobbled one even larger The Shark 665. It's powered with an OS .46LA.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.
