So what other country beat France at a war other than Vietnam (which coincidentally beat the U.S. as well)?  And what does this have to do with your National Day of Prayer?

Depending on your metaphysics Lafayette would be offended. Founding fathers would also take exception. Then again, hard to know what is meant.

This why the country is in the shape it is.   Look at our schools or the ones that don't allow prayer or pledge of allegiance.   If some people don't believe in prayer why hinder those that do.  It is like the story of the man who opened a bar across the road from a church.   The church prayed for the closing of the bar or getting rid of it.   It caught fire and burned to the ground.  The man sued the church for damages.   Now the judge has to decide is there power in prayer and hold the church responsible or deny there is power in prayer and tell the man he is on his own and hopes insurance will cover him.   I believe in prayer and seen it work many times and there are examples right here on this forum if you will look. We could at least pray that the FAA would change their mind on over reaching our model airplane hobby. Divine intervention is about the only way this hobby is going to last more than a few more years otherwise.

Gil, I bet you didn't think you would get so many negative responses for a simple request for prayer for America? It may not be toy airplane related, but surely it must be OK on this forum to pray for each other when we are sick, or going through some bad times, or acknowledge VETERAN'S Day, America's Independence Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, etc. Yes, it's about Toy airplanes, but do we have behave like brats when one of our peers has such a simple, sincere, and noble request. My two cents worth!!
May GOD BLESS AMERICA, and  may HE move in the hearts and minds of everyone involved in this thread. He loves all of you(us) much more than you and I can imagine! Now if this inflames some of you my sincerest apologies, it was not intended.

I'll never understand why people bother to comment when they don't like something.

It's really simple. If the topic is not your thing then skip it.

If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. You don't have to go out of your way to be mean. It's an open forum in a country that allows free speach. Let's press on.

Well said.  I thought the title of this thread pretty much made its intent clear.  If one can write well enough to pen a response decrying the presence of a thread he/she should have been able to read the title with enough intellect to know he/she would find its content likely distasteful and go elsewhere.

For instance, if I read the icky word Rye on a colored beverage bottle I've no compulsion to taste its contents in hope of savoring a fine bourbon.

I've had quite enough of a handful of Americans...especially those demanding their "right" to educate our children...telling us where, if anywhere, on school grounds they are allowed to speak of the principles and priorities valued in their homes unless those principles and priorities are in lockstep with those of the "educators"...and, even more reprehensible when "our" government deigns to tell "its citizens exactly what sort of speech is ideologically acceptable after holding their ever dampened finger in the air to find the direction from which the votes are most likely to blow their way.

Aah, the joy of reading my buddy Ted's greatly written and perfectly expressed thoughts on this.  Way to go my friend, and by the way, a huge AMEN to it!  We also need to remeber that Christ told us the world would hate us because it first hated Him.  These negative comments should be no surprise to those of us who believe, but they should spur us on to pray, not only for those commenting here, but our entire country as well.

posting a religious topic will ALWAYS get responses good or bad  - just because YOU believe in something doesn't mean everyone does.

While I'm not a fan of political and religious post on the model airplane forum I have to question what your trying to accomplish with this post. Just because you DONT believe in something doesn't mean you need to go out of your way to offend others around something they find sacred. You've shown extreme lack of character with this.

I guess my advice to you would be that if you find religion that offensive try and develop the good sense not to open a thread titled "National day of prayer".

I've said my piece and now I'm done with this.

I think threads like this are useful for pointing out a person's character.  It identifies people in our modeling community that enjoy being "contrary".

If you don't like the program, change the channel.  Don't open the thread.  Don't respond.  Unless you WANT to stir something up.  One could consider that low character.

I just barely make the cut-off into the baby boomer group.  My parents served in WWll.  My siblings and their friends are all older than I.  I am familiar with the ideals, values, and beliefs that this generation typically have.  This is not the America we grew up in.  That disturbs a lot of boomers.  Like me.  But, rather than insult those whom I disagree with by getting my offensive words in, I learned to let it go.  You can say your piece, like I am doing now, but in an un-offensive way.  That is a value I learned that is not always common place today.

Someone smarter than I said:  You can stay quiet and let people think you are a fool, or open your mouth and remove all doubt.

This is a no risk forum. Say what you will. Nothing is put on the line. If you seek political change. If you don't like the decisions in your schools. Whatever burns you up show some guts and take your POV elsewhere where it might matter. Where you put something on the line. Day of prayer. Really. Whose prayer. Whose religion. Yeah it's irksome when folks make arrogant proclamations irrelevant to model airplanes on a forum designed for fun.

It never ceases to amaze me that people that already know that 2 things you don't post in any public forum, politics and religion, go ahead and post it anyway. They think that everyone believes as they do, and the others don't matter. That says a lot about them, and it's not good.
