Well, I was going to say we all (except Dennis) should maybe pray that Hillary doesn't become elected . . . but then realized that this sort of comment doesn't belong on a CL Stunt forum.

Sorry 'bout that!   LL~

The Bible instructs the born again to above all else, preach the gospel and convert the heathen. Some folks are very zealous when it comes to this command and will use every means and opportunity to do so. So it is not unusual that it happens here but still I pray every day that religion and politics stay out of these discussions. However I am losing my faith... I think the big guy upstairs has his smart phone turned off!

Dennis....  TRUMP- ME TOO, 23RD PSALM THAT'S GOOD TOO! Arrogant proclamation(National day of prayer)- Gil didn't proclaim the NDOP, but the President did! Although this is a model airplane forum, nothing ever said about guys being off topic with showing off their Classic cars, sports cars, u-tubes identified as being off subject/topic, and talking of other interests/hobbies unrelated to m. airplanes. Some of the guys even share totally unrelated interests not related to model airplanes such as singing opera, listening to classical music, acting in theatre , building furniture, building guitars , painting, and even where they went on vacation, etc. Is it possible to view a request for prayer in the same way?
We are not trying to promote religion, I'm so sorry that this offends some of you -it shouldn't, but as Ted and others have said, don't read the thread if you don't like it's title. However,if you do read and respond in the negative then that's OK too. Some of us will rebut what some of yawl say and you will rebut us, then one rebut after another as is happening here. I don't think anything is wrong with any of us saying what we think! It's the thinking that may be........ know what I mean?

I'm exhausted from Mother's Day traveling and rehearsing a new play. Soon as I can look at stuff, I'll include a Classic Chinese poem translated by Red Pine. Many lovely prayers in Poems of the Masters. An anthology of Chinese poems created in the 14th ce. Before Mao, young Chinese students were expected to memorize many of these. The Red Pine translations are uniformly brilliant.

I've been thinking about our forum. What if we had night school(s) around where we could learn about whatever we were interested in. Literature, Art, Music, History, or applied Arts, sculpture, painting, cabinet making. Modeling certainly. I'm thinking of broadening our perspectives. Yeah. Our tit for tats take up mental space. But there's a wider world out there. Ultimately more interesting and compelling.

This is very simple.

The folks here that don't believe it is because you can't. Your without the Sprit.
The person without the sprit can't accept the things that come from the Sprit of God. You consider them foolish.

Here is where others are. We believe that the some of our friends and flying buddies are drowning and would like to throw them a life saver (Savior). But until people realize they need saving they will reject the sprit and everything that goes with it.

The first post was about bringing America together with prayer. Not surprise to see division because God is sharper than a two edge sword.

The US is in bad shape just watch the news. Along with this fallen world we live in. But there is hope.
There is a day coming where ever knee will bow and every tongue confess the Jesus is Lord.

posting a religious topic will ALWAYS get responses good or bad  - just because YOU believe in something doesn't mean everyone does.
"snip"

As it should, Wynn.  Exactly as we pro and con elex versus IC endlessly.

What isn't acceptable is declaring threads/opinion--clearly identified as addressing subjects with which one is uncomfortable--as "unacceptable for inclusion" simply because one prefers elex and the subject matter is IC which he/she does not prefer.

Sparky's site is a "forum" which is pretty much Latin for talking to one another.

It never ceases to amaze me that people that already know that 2 things you don't post in any public forum, politics and religion, go ahead and post it anyway. They think that everyone believes as they do, and the others don't matter. That says a lot about them, and it's not good.

Well Mr Garf.  I happen to believe that those who refuse to believe in God and Jesus Christ will soon find that they don't matter.  No offense meant just stating a fact!  You have every right to believe what you will.  I suggest you also have a right to pay the price for it in the end!

Actually, that statement is Opinion, your belief.  I'm not saying you're right or wrong just that you didn't offer facts you offered opinion.

However, it is a fact he has every right to believe what he wants, in this country anyways.  And also in the end we will all find out or not, nobody gets out alive.

Oh you know, eternity in a lake of fire, serpents ripping the flesh from your bones, glass being rubbed in your eyeballs, endless crotch punches and anything else a goat raper in the middle of the desert could think of a couple thousand years ago when they were stealing myths from older religions.  That kind of stuff.  You don't believe in his mojo, you're in bad joo joo.

Or

You'll cease to exist, just like before you were born or somewhere before when your synapses started working, there will be, for you, nothing.  How did you live your life?  Hopefully those around you that you leave behind will proffer favorably.

Regardless, he does wish the best for you and you should take it at that value.  I obviously don't agree or believe that way and will say so when questioned.  It is just how we each individually handle the fact that we're here and if it doesn't have some greater meaning then we're just slightly more complicated organisms then bacteria whose only purpose is to eat, excrete and make more just like us, that's too much nothing for many.  It MUST mean something more.

Mankind always has a problem with just being happy with what they have which is another reason why we are so adaptive and successful.  Dolphins are perfectly content.  Haven't seen one of them with a cell phone have you?  You won't either.  Know why?  There's no coverage at sea!  Duh!

Somehow I fail to see where Randy tried to FORCE his belief on you.  You're kinda thin-skinned about this whole thing if you think he's forcing you.  As you even noted, he just expressed an opinion.  The fact is expressed in the Bible we believe in and accept as the factual and accurate word of God.  he even said you could make whatever choice you wanted to.  Wow, you HATE him for that?  That's what you said.   Goodness, I hope the two of you never meet or Randy's in hot water.

At least Christianity is not condoning beheading like some religions.   I never seen my Dad go to Church. but we would talk while taking a break from chores or other farm work.  He always said there is a supreme being some where.   Then he stated if we make mistakes, we are to own up to them.  By the way I am far from perfect and I guess that is why I spend time asking for forgiveness.

I have tried to stay out of this but I have some strong personal convictions...

The two that created me were what are called good Christians and I of course was raised to "Believe" in a God and Jesus Christ

I am a curious sort and during some of the Catholic school teachings had a hard time with several of the Churches absolutes...

As an Army brat live on Taiwan, in Chile, Panama, and Irag and was exposed to more than western culture and religion...

Personally, long ago I decided that believing has no down side and I think the BASIC tenements of each different "Religion" has a well intentioned focus....live in peace, be kind, love one another, take care of your brother, don't screw up you environment, don't hate

In all this I have zero angst or fear of other religions NOR non believers, and I do not wish any of them eternity in the concept of a Hell

I personally deplore intolerance on either side

I suspect any that saw the Topic "National Day of Prayer" and decided to read and submit negative comments are seeking some form of self aggrandizement...or just butt heads that are intolerant of any form of a religion

NOTHING the OP said or did was seeking to start any controversy, anger, or any way intended to @#$% anyone off...

On this forum we discuss lost friends, sick friends, lost dogs and other critters, sick dogs and critters. Many of us offer support, prayers and good wishes....all good intentions and not meant to assault anyone's personal belief system

I know many atheists and agnostics. Face to face they never chastise me for being a believer in a higher power, and I never try to "convert" them....I totally respect their personal conviction and I very dearly love them for showing respect for my convictions
