monokote or whatever type of film removal from covering

I have a plane that someone gave me that has an AMA # on the wing that I want to remove.  I have used every type of solvent that I could think of and nothing will seep under the edge where they can be removed.

did you try heat?
aside from that I would try to flood some acetone along the edges and let it work at the adhesive

Use a heat gun to remove letters. Use Top Flite MonoKote Trim Solvent to remove the left over adhesive that is left behind.

Tried heat, acetone, lacquer thinner, MEK, methylene chloride, and paint remover.  No luck!!

Heavy hand with coarse sandpaper or an EX-Acto knife.

Like John Rist said, the trim solvent works to clean it up.... But also, if you "flood" the edges a little with trim solvent it will wash away the adhesive on the ends and get at least a corner to raise. Then keep wiping at it, under the lifted corner with a paper towel wet with trim solvent. You'll slowly wash away enough adhesive to lift it away. I've found the trim solvent works best for removing really stuck on layers. You might even have to pull up the raised corner with tweezers to keep wiping. It certainly can be tedious. Especially if the last guy did a great job... Lol

I've had good luck using xylene to melt Monokote adhesive. I've used it to apply Monokote trim pieces and to seam Monokote to itself. I've never tried it on any of the other covering brands.

Hard to believe heat won't work. Have you tried slipping a single edge razor blade under a corner and then pulling while heating? Are you sure they film and not paint?

If it's Monokote over Monokote, if upper layer of film was applied with trim solvent, if the job was properly accomplished, I'm thinking it ain't never coming off base layer of film. Sorry...

Thanks for all the ideas.  I had probably tried them already.  I think that how long the trim has been on has a lot to do with it.  I was able to get off what I needed to with the scraping with a single edge and then using acetone to get off the adhesive color.  I had tried this in the beginning and had scraped the solid color (black) monocote and was looking for an easier way.
