With that emphasis (C/L and women) I predict a great future for the magazine.

What a great subject for the cover.  Met her at Brodaks in 2015 and she is a sweetheart.

Now for all the nay sayers,  what a great time to be living.   Less than 10 minutes and I renewed my membership with AMA and got my Senior citizens rate.   Do wish they would let us check all the different facets of model planes we do.  Anyway I checked Sport as that should cover all of control line.

Again congrats to Samantha for being our cover girl. #^ #^ #^

That's really nice, congrats. Quite suprising to see a C/L model on the cover too.

Yeah, I guess once every ten years is cool.  ::)

But congratulations to Samantha and Steve. Mag covers are quite an honor.

Been a member for TOO LONG a time

WHY do I keep reading about MA LONG before it gets to my Central Texas Mail box?

Yes there seems to be a bit of red meat for us "the way it was---or should be" modelers

I try very hard to read each issue with an open mind....as long as you DO NOT READ the FIRST 25 pages

I have tried to send in my meager CL models or comments for the\various sections.. 1 out of 25 submission made print

I do NOT ever plan to fly competiviley ever again so seriously considering letting this long time association come to an end

Congratulations Samantha!  Beautiful Girls are always a welcome sight on a magazine cover!  You're very deserving of the fame...keep it up.

Sure would be a great occurrence to have a lady National Stunt Champion...How about it? Just keep doing what you're doing and it could happen!  y1

The Magazine...Uhhh... well, I'll reserve judgement on that subject.  Great doesn't come to mind.   ~^   D>K

I've been pleased to see the effort Model Aviation has been putting forth to inspire and teach the building skills necessary to construct a home built model...vs. the ARF's and ARC's, even to the point of offering free downloadable plans. Even my favorite discontinued model magazine,"Flying Models" seldom had free plans, except if it was a centerfold. Model Aviation deserves kudos for these efforts, not continuing criticism.

Fred I had to give permission for the cover because Samantha is a minor. I got it early and they did say I could not show any body.

Steve it is not just this thread....many times someone here or on another forum posts up about Bob Hunt, Ring Master fly a thon,  or some great red meat for Control line or model builders---- and I scramble about wondering what I missed, onlyto eventually discover I HAD NOT YET received the issue yet

I have since concluded that they send in Alpha order, and as a von Gortler I seem to always get my "mail box issue" about 2 to 3 weeks later than most folks....including my dentist ( who is a subscriber/member(RC))

That said...very cool cover...and very glad they featured the young lady and nice airplane

One issue with some improvement does not make it great!  I could just say PHHHHTTTTTTT!  It's going to take a lot more than that to qualify as a great magazine!

My comments were in no way intended to minimize the accomplishments of Samantha!  She has terrific appeal and someone at AMA took advantage of that.  We'll see what the future holds for CL with the Mag before I'm ready to call it "A great Magazine"!  I still believe they are after the MONEY!

As for criticism...It's well deserved!

RADIO CONTROL MODELLER magazine often featured scantily-clad women holding model airplanes on their cover.  It didn't seem to help, because that magazine disappeared from the scene.  (Hard to believe that a dedicated R/C magazine wouldn't thrive!).

I wish MA a bit better luck, mainly because there isn't too much choice left these days.

With all due respect, the building articles and free plans are not confined to one issue. These started appearing over a year ago.

But Chris, for someone to notice those good articles, one must read the magazine, and many of our guys say they just pitch theirs in the trash without doing so.  Myself, I read mine from cover to cover because I love nearly everything that flies!  I simply don't understand the closed hearts that feel the tiny percentage of AMA members that make up c/l are persecuted because AMA does advertising of the things that pay for the mag.  Yeah, yeah, I know, our dues pay for that.  Get real guys, and research the cost of publishing MA per copy.  There's some waking up needs to happen in c/l when it comes to a true business aproach to publishing.  Believe me, I know how high those costs are.
There, I have vented, now all you naysayers, give me your best shots!  But don't expect me to waste my time looking at this thread again, I know I'd be beating a dead horse.

Really great to see this, Steve.  I just wish Sam could forever stay young for you.  Always tough on Dads when their little girls grow up. .  Well, she will be forever remembered.  Maybe we will catch up to you at Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Best regards, to you and Sam.

The Oct. issue had an interview with Bob Hunt, and a great scale talk about Sparky's Shoestring.

But, I have still not received the Nov issue with Samantha.

Nor have I!  Oh well I'm one of those guys that scan it read any CL articles which are sparse and pitch it!  Would have been nice to get the only interesting cover in a long time however!

Ya' think maybe Steve bought them all?   LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

Randy now that is funny. If I had the money I would. I can see it all coming to end soon. She was the homecoming court last week, she in a play, and gave me the schedule for dance poms for the next two month. We will see if we get the new plane done. It has been fun for the last four years. Well it my job to help her fledge, just hope she takes off in to the wind.

The one thing I learned about raising three girls and one boy is that if treated properly they will grow up to be good people.  All of mine did, and I'm proud of them.  However I could never get any of them interested in Model aviation.  Broke my heart for a while. but I got over it.  Kids will do what they will do.   Kids now have many, many more opportunities for thing to do that it seems that building and flying model airplanes has simply lost the attention and luster that it had for us.  Kind of sad but it's simply a fact!
