Minneapolis Piston Poppers January 1st 2017 Frozen Fun Fly
« on: January 01, 2017, 02:28:44 PM »
Today was our annual January 1st Frozen Fun Fly.
Every January 1st we fly, no matter what the weather is, below zero or deep snow. This year we had mild temps, mid 20's and nearly calm winds, kind of a heat wave for us. Some of our members help out by bringing out a big pot of hot chili and cocoa on the grill. Everyone that fly's is entered into a raffle at the end of the day, prizes are assorted tools and kits.
Rachael Sandberg even let me fly her hot pink Ringmaster, thank you Rachael. One of the guys said that I looked good flying it, thanks Sean.
About 12 members flew and everyone had a good day with only one mishap when the engine quit at the top of a wingover.

Sorry, I don't know how to do the thumbnails.

Good seeing you guys are still at it.  I made 1 of their News Years Day Fly-Ins.  It was a blast.

Thanks for putting this up Jim, I didn't get any pics taken today. It was a nice change to finally have some tolerable weather this year. y1

Guess I'm getting old.  Didn't get nothing ready and 32F degrees doesn't sound like fun any more.   After Church was the annual family dinner of black eyed peas, fried taters and bisquits.  Thanks for the great pictures.

"This year we had mild temps, mid 20's "

Perspective is a very interesting thing. Around here, mid 20s is considered "No, I'm not leaving the house and you can't make me".

Thanks Jim. The Frozen Fun Fly was great fun, and the chili was delicious. It was super to see you fly, and Dave V. as well.
