I flew the Illusion today. Nice bird! Groovy level flight, clean corners and flat bottoms. It was a like hopping in a time machine and travelling to 1981!
First flight ended up being a bit slow, but a good safety check run, 6.3 laps... took off, got a feel for neutral, nice landing glide. Nothing scary.
Turned up the wick on the ST46 to 8600RPM turning the Bolly 2blade 11.5x6.5 Jimmy had on there, and at 5.3 laps it was very easy to fly. Did the front half of the pattern up to the V8 and I stopped, and ran out the tank flying level playing it safe. Turned out I would have had plenty of fuel and run time for the whole pattern.
The weather as forecasted looked to be turning to rain soon, so I called it a success and packed up.
See the NOS30 forum for more details and another picture of the Illusion.
