Information About these Old Foxes

While getting some stuff together to sell, I came across these three Foxes in my junk box.  :o
They're all new, never mounted or run.
I'm a bit familiar with the first one, a 29R, and was wondering - was it a successful racing engine or just an experiment?
The other two I know nothing about.   ???

First one is a 1956 29 R twin plug

Second one is a 1965 29R BB

Third is a 1956 Hustler .010

Decent motors in their day, the bathtub 29 is worth a few bucks , also don't see many of the rear rotor 29's also worth a few bucks on ebay to collectors

Hi Bob,

The 29 R won the NATS in, I believe, either 1957 or 1958.  Think it was a single plug version though.  This was a few years before I became active in CL speed flying.

In 1965, Fox sent two of the 29X RR motors to Dub Jett for evaluation.  We put one of them in my B speed ship and test flew it on the circle behind the L&H Hobby shop in Mesquite, TX.  The speeds we obtained were a bit down in comparison to the Super Tigre G21/29 motors that I was using.  I recall that I was impressed with the fit and finish on these motors.  We might have coaxed more speed from them with further development but I wasn't involved in any more testing of them.

the bathtub only lasted for about a year .the venturi was too short and too big ,ran better if built up with J&B to make it taller ,it,s predecessor the 29X ruled the 29 proto class for a couple of years . the 29 RR never got popular as the piped engines started coming in

When time permits, I'll have to try and run these old gems!

The 29R, by the way, has a spare head - a single plug version that appears to have machined fins.

      Hello Robert:

      The instructions that came with my Fox .29 RR stated that an optional single plug head was available at a cost of$5.00 from Fox.  The twin plug engine was suspected of overheating.

Morning BZ, If it is important to you to "run" them then do it. If it were me, I'd get then as clean as I could and sell them on da Bay. You'll get as much if not more than they are worth if "Not Run" from a serious collector.

I had a 29R bathtube version in a early rat racer. It was a fun event until super powerful motors came along.
