Tom,

I took over 1,500 pictures.  Unfortunately, we had a crisis at work and I haven't had time to go through them and post some.  I'll get some posted this weekend.  Sorry for the delay.

Steve.

Ty , I sure was sorry you lost that Cardinal. You had a good round going too, one of the best ,if not the best, I've seen you fly. You are right the Cavalier is better. The great ladies who handled the tabulation and flight order were Shelia Cranfill, Colleen Gilbert, and Janice Stokey. They did a real fine job. Kept us judges on our toes. Thanks for confirming the finishing order. I did not get a much of a look at any of the scoreboards and was busy during the awards. Congrats on the 2ND place. It was some hard flying for everyone. Almost everyone had near misses. Louis Keller did a great job for his first contest. His shapes are very good, just needs to get the sizes reduced, shorter lines will help correct some of this.

Does the black/white plane have Retracts?  (Or are my eyes that bad?)

Edit: Apparently, my eyes are that bad. Upon further review I think I see a blur just to the left of his hand.

Getting eyes checked...  :o

The guy with the LSU cap is named Brent. He entered in beginner with that plane. It's his original design and it flew well.

The black and white plane is Mike Greb's Strega w/landing gear. The black and blue plane is, as Louis says, Brent Rogillio's plane. He and I have been working on a design for a stunt trainer. We have been experimenting with different tail/nose moments, airfoils, and engine pkgs. It has an exposed control system like the JJ/Jim Pearson U-KEYS. The similarity ends there. This design has longer tail/nose moments, much thicker airfoil, and greater stab area. The wing area is right at 500sq.in. Shortly after Steve got this pic, it met it's demise. We will freeze our experiment when we get'em  flying a little better. We are using cedar/light ply/maple for the fuse, double continuous span basswood spars in a foam wing, which we cut ourselves, with thanks to the helpful tips of Phil Cartier and Cris Rigotti. The stab/elev. is made with 1/4" light-light balsa. Currently all up weight minus fuel is 34-1/2 to 35-1/2 Oz's. w/Fox 35 w/Tongue muffler with the (3) built so far. We like the the over and under spar system we use. The wings do not appear to mangle as bad as the dowel system in the crashes we have experienced so far. Yep! we're not proud- we put'em in the ground as fast as we launch'em!! That's the reason we need a quick build, quick repair, very economical, good flying stunt trainer. We gonna call it the MENTOR, or maybe MANGLED MENTOR, even MENTOR for DUMMIES, or simply DUMTOR, or DUMTORUS, or even borrow a little from Brad W.- T-DUMTORUS, or .........!!!@@#@^&*&^&**^%)(*%#@!! little plane. If interested we will post in the build section our continuing adventures in ODDDUMSY. CHER!

Steve if you took pic's of the Texarkana scoreboard could you post them and also forward them to Howard Rush so he can give a full report in PAMPA Stunt News.
     Thanks,

Doug,

I submitted a full report of the contest to Stunt News, including about 60 photos.  The photos of the score sheet did not come out very well.  Technically, the photos were okay.  It was just hard to read the scores because of the corrections.  I included a spreadsheet with all the scores from each flight along with the aircraft and engine used by each contestant.  I also sent the results to Howard Rush.
