netzband doodle bug plans
« on: July 27, 2012, 02:09:40 PM »

Looked on the Flying Models plan site, couldn't find these plans.
Any body got a suggestion on how to do the search?

Did you down load their catalogs? I can't rememeber which(r/c or ff) had the c/l plans, but I do remember seeing the doodlebugs.

CD-0158 from March 2002.  42" span for .40.  Found in the FM plans list 13-15 in the Flying Models plans list post pinned to the top of the admin board.

Which DoodleBug are you looking for.  I have one  built from John  Lowrey kit.  In fact I plan on flying it in Tulsa for their profile meet. H^^

Well I finally got the wife to get the pictures from  the card into my files.   Had them there before, but the spam mail from DHL wiped them out.

Stan Tyler built a couple of Doodle Bugs in different sizes, and they fly very badly.  Anyone have better luck?
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Larry,
Do you recall any particulars Stan mentioned about the DB's faults?  I'm interested in the design of flapless planes, especially those which are extreme.
Thanks.

Bill described it as a monoplane Bi-Slob, so it may be that the expectations are not correct.

Right you are Brett.
Bill's purpose for this design was as a fun airplane that could be versitile enough to allow a wide envelope of flying.  It was not intended to be a competitive stunter.
I flew his in CA many years ago and it was fun but needed a relaxed attitude, and concentration to actually fly the pattern...not it's intended function.
Certainly not a "Bad" airplane but definitely "different" which was it's intended purpose.

John Lowry has started passing the Doodle bug series of kits over to me.

We have started with the 25 size but dont have them ready right now.

Walter,

Does that mean that you might be getting the Lowry Wingmaster and Stuka kits also? Great simple kits.

We've chatted about them also and John has basically said okay to them also.

I would like to start with the one I have but I have sent John a sample kit for the
25 size for him to build but John is focusing on his health right now so things are
just a little slower moving than normal. This is also why I have not actually
advertised anything regarding the Doodlebugs or any of the other kits in John's lineup.

Thank you and God Bless

Tell John to take care of his health.  I have the Stuka kit which I made copies for  my self.  One with throttle.   His designs in m y thinking are more for fun flying than competition.

Now for the DoodleBug,  it is a plane you have to fly to enjoy.  When  I have everything right it flies a pattern as well as I can.  In fact I think it flies better than some planes I've had.  I know, not saying much.  But, I hope to fly it the weekend of Tulsa.  So we'll see what the judges think of it.  It does look a little strange on the end of the lines.  I is like looking at an arrow head. I had the smallest one in the line and all I can say is that it is a "twitchy" little rascal.
