I need to replace my Glo Bee tach as it is not working since I dropped it. Does anyone have experience with this one:

Yes, mine lasted abut 2 months. Added: After two other cheap tachs I bought a Fromeco, made here in Portland. Problem solved.

The Fromeco Tach is quite a bit more expensive but a really nice piece of equipment.  Last I knew still made in the US.

You can get the same thing from hobby king. It is a turigy, but the same thing for under 12 dollars. I have one and a friend has one they work fine. My Royal is still the on I like best, but this one will go in your pocket nice. I have mine for over a year and have not had a problem with it.

I have used one of those since I ditched my Globee tach (unreliable as all shnit, and had problems ofturing itself off andcould not turn it back on for days at a time.) and I really like mine.
The only thing I did when I got mine was replaced the battery with a nice Duracell battery. The one in it
was weak when I got it. Still going strong after 8 months.

Has anyone tried any of the smartphone apps? "They have an app for that!"

I tried one on my Android...it reported my old Cox horseshoe back-plate was turning 15k swinging a Cox 3 blade 5x3 safety prop. I almost believed it.

Then I tried it with my new BigMig .074 swinging a new 6x3 prop...it reported 35k! I suspect I was getting feedback from the porch walls.

I wish I had a "real" one to compare with. Besides the goofy numbers, I don't like having to wipe down the phone.
The only real positive is the smell of castor when I use the phone later in the day.
