Giant Flite Streak flying at Buder Park
« on: April 24, 2016, 02:55:03 PM »
The Lafayette Esquadrille received 11 airplanes from Norman Koerner (Illinois) and one of them was a 62" span Flite Streak with a ST .60 for power. The model weighs 69 ounces and we got it flying yesterday at Buder Park. Norman was getting out of the hobby since he could not fly anymore and decided to donate them to the club instead of trying to sell them.

The model needed minor work on the engine to get it running and the 3-line bellcrank was too stiff so we locked the engine at the full power setting and flew the model that way.

Enjoy the Video!

There must be an affinity for large Flite Streaks. Pat King liked them so much he designed a 66 inch 900 square inch version. Here is a few pictures of the model. Powered with an Evolution 60 C/L engine, it has no need of a 3rd line as it pulls less than a PA piped model. Oh. the weight is 67 oz and it flies on 65 foot lines.

Nice plane and a very nice and generous gesture from this gentleman Norman. Kudos to him.
